Essential Functions:
Operational Oversight: Manage the daily operations of the emergency department, ensuring effective patient flow, staff coordination, and quality care.Staff Supervision: Supervise and support nursing and support staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development.Patient Care Management: Oversee patient care delivery, ensuring timely, efficient, and compassionate treatment in alignment with clinical standards and protocols.Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies. Promote a culture of safety.Quality Improvement: Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, clinical staff, and administration, to improve patient care and department operations.Resource Management: Monitor and adjust staffing levels based on patient volume, acuity, and departmental needs.Budget Management: Assist in preparing and managing the emergency department budget, tracking expenses, and optimizing resource use.Emergency Preparedness: Oversee disaster preparedness and response efforts, ensuring the department is equipped to handle various emergency situations.Patient and Family Experience: Ensure a positive experience for patients and their families, addressing concerns and ensuring the highest level of care and support.QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates high level knowledge of patient care needs in assigned areas as well as administrative/leadership ability. Ability to network and problem solve with inter-disciplinary team essential. Must meet all the requirements of Emergency Room Staff Nurse positions. Completion of BLS, NRP, ENPC, ACLS, TNCC and PALS strongly encouraged. Maintenance of CEN or CCRN strongly encouraged.
EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursing with B.S.N. or MSN preferred. Basic computer knowledge.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years experience in combined Emergency and Critical Care Nursing preferred. Minimum 2 years managerial experience or demonstrated competence preferred.
LICENSURE: Currently licensed as registered nurse in the state of Iowa.
