The Advanced Technologies group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Test & Assembly Operations Manager for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman’s ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems. This position is located at our ATL - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, and Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in Superconducting Electronics and Super-Lattice Castellated Field-Effect Transistors (SLCFET). Our devices enable Northrop Grumman’s ground-based radars, airborne radars, and space systems.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Manage a team of Test and Assembly represented employees across multiple shifts

Provide direction and guidance to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies

Responsible for meeting Test and Assembly Area throughput, product delivery, Test and Assembly area yields, and overall Test and Assembly line quality and continuous improvement efforts

Involved in staffing decisions, training, and driving engagement efforts to achieve the employee's highest potential

Provide Management with progress reports and presentations

Work independently across the organization to meet Test and Assembly area needs and goals

Work closely with other departments within the organization to align manufacturing with development of new technology and business opportunities

Maintain a strong managerial presence on the production floor

Maintain a safe work environment

Create & maintain process documentation

Implement corrective actions and manufacturing cost reduction initiatives

Provide technical support to production operators and staff

Specify capital equipment requirements

The position will work 1st shift hours starting at 7:00am to 4:30pm, hours are negotiable.

Basic Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other technical area with 7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other technical area with 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations; Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other technical area with 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations.

Basic understanding of semiconductor dice, sort and packaging processes

Experience in the Semiconductor industry

Must be able to work in a dynamic environment

U.S. Citizenship required

The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors’ Degree or higher in Business, Engineering, or other technical area with 2 years of experience supervising/managing manufacturing operations including planning and scheduling workflow

Technical knowledge and understanding of semiconductor processes and tool sets

Working knowledge of industry management methodologies focused on continuous process improvement in manufacturing such as SPC, 5S, Total Quality Management or Six Sigma.

Experienced in ISO 9001 or AS 9100 quality audits and requirements

Knowledge of Industrial Hazardous Waste Management procedures

Salary Range: $112,600.00 - $169,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
