Manager - EU Government Affairs

The role
Under the supervision of the Head of Government Affairs Europe, the Government Affairs Manager:
Designs strategies for government outreach by providing analysis of emerging or existing legislative public policy issues at EU level impacting the company.
Gathers intelligence and assists in the preparation of position papers, policy briefings, presentations, and public consultations’ submissions.
Coordinates actions through strategic partners in government and industry communicating corporate positions and objectives.
About you
We are seeking an experienced professional in EU Government Affairs who is self-motivated, proactive, and capable of using their initiative. Fluency in French, both spoken and written, is essential for this role. You will be an excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
Research and monitor government activities that could affect the organization.
Assists the Head of Government Affairs Europe with strategic planning for known and potential legislative activities related to the business.
Establishes, develops, and maintains professional GA relationships with MEPs assistants, trade association staff and other relevant bodies.
Collaborates with industry advocates to build areas of common interest.
Represents the company at relevant events in Brussels.
Drafts amendments and contribution to public consultations to represent the company position in the relevant EU-led activities.
Draft policy position papers and briefing materials to support senior leadership engagement in Brussels.
Develop and implement advocacy campaigns to raise awareness of the value of genomics in healthcare.
Collaborates deeply with the members of the Government Affairs & Market Access Europe team.
Collaborate with external consultants, trade bodies, and advocacy groups to align policy efforts.
Develops strong cross-functional collaborations within the company including with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Commercial and all other relevant internal stakeholders.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fluent in English and French, additional European languages are an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Experience/Education:
It requires experience of previous professional experience either in house, consultancy or trade association.
Preferred degree and master’s in European politics, Law, International Relations, or Economics.
Deep understanding of EU institutions, healthcare policies, and regulatory frameworks relevant to Illumina.
