Responsible for and directs all areas associated with Gas System Operations, Gas Production, and Gas Technical Services. Responsible for the activities of a number of field supervisors engaged in a variety of endeavors including; the construction, maintenance, installation and operation of gas regulating facilities, propane-air plants (MW), propane storage caverns (MW), system stations, installation and maintenance for City Gate stations, Combustion Turbine Plant stations, large industrial plant stations, remote controlled SCADA system operations, odorization, instrument repair and calibration, and other facilities. Responsible for coordinating efforts with other company departments, contractors and individual customers.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Provides leadership in accomplishing goals and strategies for Gas Operations in support of corporate goals.

Develops and directs short term and long term strategies to accomplish goals and objectives while managing costs to meet regulatory requirements.

Responsible for the safe and reliable operation of Duke Energy’s propane-air plants (MW) and related storage facilities (MW). Responsible for plant availability during periods of peak demand and emergency conditions.

Responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all Gas System Stations and District regulating stations, valves and related facilities.

Directs, coordinates, and assists in staffing, training, development, evaluation and counseling of personnel within Gas System Operations, Gas Production (MW), and Technical Services (MW).

Prepares and manages operating budget for Gas System Operations and Gas Production (MW). Prevent cost overruns and miss-applied charges.

Responsible for the safe and reliable installation, operation and maintenance of odorization equipment, remote control equipment, AMR devices, and electronic instrumentation.

Basic/Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering or other Technical and five (5) or more years of work-related experience.

Or High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) or more years of work-related experience in lieu of a degree

Desired Qualifications:

Masters’ degree in Business Administration

Must have thorough knowledge of the gas transmission and distribution systems.

Must display strong orientation for safety, customer service, communication and leadership.
Highly proficient in the use of information systems, including PC applications, such as MS Access, Word, and Excel

Detail oriented, with strong accounting and analytical skills.

Able to work under tight timelines, meet deadlines, and perform in stressful conditions.

Knowledge of the gas industry, the gas supply function and gas measurement methods, including automatic meter reading systems.

Knowledge of DOT CFR 192, CFR 195 (MW) and NFPA 59

Knowledge of the Company’s customer information and billing system, and corporate financial/ accounting tools.

Knowledge of the Company’s retail gas rates, transportation rates and transportation programs as well as tariffs and services of Interstate Transmission companies which deliver gas to the Company.

Familiar with safe construction methods.

Flexible and adaptable to new technologies.
