Manager - Health Information Services
Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center
Reports to the Director of HIS and is responsible for managing and overseeing and coordinating, prepping, scanning and quality review functions of record processing. Responsible for off-site storage that can produce requested records when necessary in a timely fashion. Assists Director in having records processed on time for coding to be performed. Primary responsibility is to maintain unbilled and accounts receivable days within established goals. Performs QA in these areas and provides education and feedback to employees. Reviews medical records to ensure documentation quality and compliance with Joint Commission Standards.
+ Record Integrity Manage and maintain the record processing workflow. Manage and supervise all employees in the record processing processes.
+ Financial Requirements Meet unbilled dollar goals as set by VP Finance Meet goals established for AR days as set by VP Finance
+ Staff Supervision Complete staff schedules Monitor payroll reports Develop, revise, and maintain departmental policies and procedures Interview, hire, train and evaluate the performance of personnel as assigned Perform quality and productivity monitoring and provide education and feedback to employees
+ Quality Assurance Assist as needed with record completion statistics. Perform activities associated with surveys by accrediting, licensure and regulatory agencies as requested by Director. Serve on various hospital committees as assigned.
+ Confidentiality/HIPAA Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to departmental and hospital information security policies. Maintain and adhere to HIPAA requirements for patient confidentiality and security.
A minimum high school degree or equivalent preferred. Associate degree in Health Information RHIT or BS with RHIA within 6 months of obtaining the position. Credential preferred.
+ Five years minimum experience in Health Information Services field preferred. Five years previous supervisory experience required preferred. 3-5 years’ experience in computer systems management. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Access.
