Overview The HIS Manager is a hybrid position between Health Information Management and the Information Services Department. This resource manages the personnel and daily activities of the health information department; and leads in the design, build, testing, support, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Allscripts Sunrise Record Manager (SRM) applications, ePI, and other assigned software applications and systems. Serves as a liaison between customers, Information Services staff and vendors for software support issues. Responsibilities Supervises the daily activities of the health information department and serves as Acting Director of Health Information in the Director’s absence. Assists with the operation of the Clinical Documentation Improvement team and manages the CDI and coding software systems. Evaluates and optimizes work flows to enhance productivity. Functions as the SRM (Sunrise Record Manager) system administrator and manages the following applications: Sunrise ePI, Deficiency Manager, Discrepancy Manager, E-Sign Administration, Release of Information, Reports, Scan, Scan QC, and System Management, MModal CDI Collaborate, Trucode encoder, Nuance coding system. Monitors systems to prevent and trouble-shoot issues with applications, servers and interfaces. Initiates and monitors Allscripts service tickets; and tests software updates. Manages the legal record application in the Meditech legacy system; trouble-shoots issues, and initiates service requests with Meditech support. Selects, trains and evaluates all personnel in accordance with established hospital policy. Ensures that all health information department policies and procedures are followed and updated as needed. Maintains a thorough knowledge of JCAHO guidelines, federal HIPAA rules, Florida state laws, and hospital policies and procedures as they pertain to health information, privacy and release of patient information. Plans, leads, coordinates, and delegates the design, build, installation, upgrade, updates end user training of new and established HIM Information Systems to maintain appropriate levels of technology and functionality as determined by Hospital and/or vendors. Works with HIM and IS team members, vendors and customers to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously including project plans, timetables, testing, training and implementation dates. Prioritizes, investigates, troubleshoots and delegates problems and questions pertaining to system applications, interfaces and data processing as appropriate: Evaluates problems in a timely manner and collects all information required to solve the problem, communicates appropriately to local and/or remote support staff and working together with these entities to develop a solution to the problem, works with vendors to solve software/hardware issues, solves the problem and/or helps determine correct measures to be taken toward the solution, empowers others by knowledge transfer. Qualifications Education / Training Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management Experience Requirements 5 to 7 years in a Health Information Department Preferences: 2 years of supervisory experience
