Manager I, Engineering - Metrics Control Plane

We’re looking for an engineering manager to lead our Metrics Control Plane team and help grow it to the next level. The team works across our Metrics Platform to design, implement, integrate, and operate systems that control data routing through our metrics pipeline to optimize reliability and performance.

 

Datadog’s metrics platform ingests several hundreds of TB’s/day and performs hundreds of thousands of queries per second. As Engineering Manager of the Metrics Control Plane team, you and your team will work with our partner metrics teams to develop and deliver the solutions for data routing on the metrics platform to support increasing levels of scalability and performance, while maintaining the reliability our customers have come to expect.

What You’ll Do: 

Own the vision and execution for Metrics Control Plane Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Software Engineers Partner with other Metrics Platform teams to develop solutions that bridge across systems within the Metrics Platform Be a technical leader of the team; You’ll be reviewing architecture decisions, RFCs, and pull requests and ensuring what the team ships is high quality Share on-call responsibilities with the rest of the team to maintain the culture of operational excellence Run and optimize team processes, ensuring the successful delivery of high quality work

Who You Are: 

You’ve managed and lead one or more teams and have shipped successful products You’re comfortable managing and working with geographically distributed teams You’ve worked with distributed systems, control plane and/or data routing You’re passionate about developing systems and tools that enable building scalable, elastic systems that can grow to support increasing customer and engineering needs You have experience managing operationally heavy teams and you’re willing to share the on-call responsibilities with them You are skilled in cross-functional collaboration and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment You are a strategic thinker with a track record of translating complex technical concepts into actionable plans You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
