The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the Biorepository Operations Site Leader and will work closely with the Avantor’s Clinical Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. What we’re looking for : Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred Experience: 5 years or more of facilities management experience preferably in a Freezer, Refrigeration environment HVAC installation and repair, maintenance and control systems Other engineering fields considered with appropriate experience Proven experience in facility management, equipment maintenance, in a critical or data center role or related field Previous management experience with at least 2 direct reports and demonstrated strong leadership skills Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credential, or equivalent Experience planning and executing facilities operational budgets, expense forecasting and managing established budgets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Professional leadership experience Contract handling experience Strong attention to detail Certifications: OSHA safety standards EPA Section 608 and NATE certifications Qualifications:Experience in mission critical systems operations (e.g., power generation, -20/5C Walk- In systems, Liquid nitrogen and other high consequence environment. Understanding of operations and maintenance of electrical, control systems and mechanical systems in a critical environment. Ability to develop and grow team members through coaching, mentoring and training. Advanced mechanical and refrigeration and freezer experience Knowledge of HVAC and other building systems Ability to lift heavy objects and do other labor-intensive tasks. Excellent time management and multitasking skills Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles Great leadership and problem-solving skills Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics. In this role you will: Demonstrates compliance with applicable US and OECD regulations and company Standard Operating Procedures. Understanding of Chemical Safety and the proper use of safety equipment and PPE. Understanding the Standard Operating Procedures and equipment associated with their duties. Understanding the significance of Quality Control procedures and performing their work accordingly. Ability to maintain client and business confidentiality in a regulated environment. Lead team to become domain experts in Biorepository Facilities environment specifically Refrigerator and Freezer farms Our ideal candidate is well-versed in facilities management processes and exhibits high multitasking and organizational abilities. Oversee all aspects of Maintenance Management, including refrigeration, equipment, facilities, and maintenance team personnel Maintain equipment and building provisions to meet health and safety requirements. Continuously evaluate and improve Standard Operating procedures, preventative maintenance programs, and the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to optimize efficiency and performance. Supervise facilities staff and communicate with external contractors and vendors Collaborate with cross functional teams, including operations and quality, to drive continuous improvement in maintenance, increasing efficiency and cost savings. Keep building and all facilities up to code and accurately follow maintenance protocol Act as an escalation point for all facilities related issues. Oversee operation and management of routine, non-routine and emergency services in all variety of critical systems such as; switch gear, generators, liquid nitrogen systems, cooling equipment, server room units and building monitoring systems, etc. Lead the development and implementation of key performance indicators. (KPIS), strong standard operating procedures (SOPs), and goals to enhance maintenance team performance and reliability. Perform daily inspections of all Archives facilities, and equipment. Maintain and keep current all maintenance logbooks and exercise logbooks. Coordinate with outside vendors for inspections and service. Develop and implement training programs to advance the skills and knowledge of the maintenance team, enhancing facility reliability. Maintain proactive management of vendor selection, vendor performance, and vendor cost. Keep Facility Operations Management informed on the day-to-day state of the Archives, including irregularities and deviations from the normal. Perform extended site rounds that could include long distance of walking and long periods of time being away from a desk. Manage teams 24/7 to respond to emergency situations and providing viable solutions to resolving complex problems at all times. Maintain and update emergency response plan as needed in accordance with applicable SOPs Knowledgeable of Standard Operating Procedures of the Archives. Awareness of technical problems that may affect quality or safety and bringing them to the attention of Facility Operations Management. Maintain, analyze, and validate manufacturer’s maintenance specifications and industry standards. Perform general building maintenance and internal ad hoc maintenance requests to your best ability. Ensure snow removal operations are scheduled and performed. Maintain inventory and accountability of all company tools. Performance of other duties as assigned by Facility Operations Management. The ability to solve certain technical problems with the help of Facility Operations Management and or Archives personnel. Attend seminars and/or courses to develop and expand your knowledge of applicable equipment, facility and building maintenance. Drive innovation Lead team to become domain experts in Biorepository Facilities environment specifically Refrigerator and Freezer farms Create and maintain technology roadmaps to enable successful environment to support client storage in a Biorepository market Maintain an ongoing assessment of competitive products through competitive feature analysis, product teardowns, installments and preventative maintenance to ensure quality of the storage products on behalf of our clients Support Biorepository Refrigerator (REF) and Freezer division on technical matters concerning products Proactively identify and resolve quality issues and identify quality improvements. Manage Refrigeration freezer budget, develop resources, drive teambuilding, support future development, and recruit approved headcount Meet with customers to understand potential product offerings and associated requirements Lead team to convert these customer needs into viable storage farms and lead and participate in client audits Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
