Technology Development – Application Engineering

Mgr II, IT&D Eng & Arch – Atlanta, GA (or Remote)

The opportunity:

As an Engineering Manager you will lead a small team of engineers to develop software solutions tailored to WestRock business needs. The solutions your team builds will be loved by internal customers and provide considerable business value.   You will be engaged in enhancing or developing new works as part of a cross functional team. 


How you will impact WestRock:

As an Agile development team leader, you will have significant influence over the evolution of new software at WestRock.You will breakdown and organize the work to be undertaken by the Mill MES Engineering team.You will be technically proficient and able to go ‘hands on’, in the code, when needed.You will contribute to our software development best practices. You will collaborate with Product Owners, UI/UX, DevOps and QA team members on subjects from design to deployment. You will collaborate on technical specification documents (flow, ERD, etc.) based on product owner requirements.You will provide technical leadership and cross-training to peers in areas of your expertise.You will conduct annual performance reviews for your teammates.You will continually hone and share your knowledge of available tools, processes and methods with the team.Develop and manage integration, analysis and assessment of plans and strategies across multiple projectsManage system integration, verification and test activities for custom applications and infrastructure for enterprise clients.Most importantly, you will code.  You will code like a champion.


What you need to succeed:

BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject or related experience10+ years of hands-on web development experience required.10+ years of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, REST and JSON required.7+ years of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL7+ years of ASP.NET and C#, .NET Framework and .NET CoreComfortable using ORMs like Entity Framework2+ year of demonstrable UX/UI designExperienced in developing Restful, SOA-based, microservices applicationsExperience working with containerization tools a plusExperience working within Agile/Scrum development teamsExperience working with Agile tools like Team Services or JIRAExperience with IDEs like VS Code, Visual Studio, and source control in Azure DevOps or GitExperience with wireframing and image editing toolsA passion for learning new technologies and techniques Insatiable desire to help teammates winA love for precision
