Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position.
Manage the development, implementation and execution of inbound transportation systems, processes, analysis, and reports that will provide the lowest landed cost of North American goods and meet the inbound transportation service requirements of Family Dollar and Dollar Tree
Work closely with the functional inbound transportation teams and supply chain leadership to fulfill their requirements
Represent the department and company both internally and externally
Principal Duties and Responsibilities - The primary tasks the associate will perform during his/her work scheduleEffectively communicate, implement, and support all domestic inbound transportation systems, programs, procedures, and policies for both Dollar Tree and Family DollarDevelop effective automated solutions and processes that improve transportation efficiencies by gathering team and company requirements, augmenting either existing tools or sourcing new solutionsEstablish and execute testing of systems upgrades, equipment changes or new implementations of locations or systems to confirm requirements of the department and organization have been successfully solutionedContinuously research emerging and existing technologies for process enhancementsCollaborate with finance determine project ROI’s and budget; to include reporting project postmortemsSupport system / data disaster recovery to ensure business continuityRepresent inbound transportation in IT business solutions meetingsAttend transportation technology and industry conferences on a normal cadence, representing the organization in a professional and influential mannerOrganize and prioritize workload and tasks for analysts to ensure proper flow of operational and tactical information in accordance with individual associate interests, aptitudes, and skillsEnsure the proper level of communication and customer service response by the analyst teamEstablish and report measurable individual and team goalsMotivate and inspire team members for optimal performance and executionCoach and discipline team membersHire and train team membersAdminister performance evaluationsComplete other various assignments, as required
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer systems, business analytics or comparable fieldFive to seven years of systems and analytics work experienceMinimum of three years direct associate management experienceExtensive knowledge of transportation software applications from an operational and functional perspective.Possess an ability to conceive, develop and implement new ideas, procedures and processes whether organically or though staying attune to new technologies and proceduresShould exhibit initiative, dependability, ability to work with minimal direct supervisionStrong operational and financial analytical skills, the ability to think critically and problem solveAbility to work well with people at different levels within and outside of the companyStrong organizational, administrative, written, and verbal skillsExtensive systems skills include Oracle, OTM, SQL, C3 Reservations, EDI, MS Office suite, BI Publisher (Oracle bolt on)Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneouslyAbility to be successful in a changing environment and lead through the ambiguity of changeMust possess qualities of integrity, discretion, and strong ethics
Desired Qualifications - Desired but not required.Master’s degreeExperience in retail transportation managementPrevious transportation work experience with a multi-billion-dollar organizationPrefer previous experience in retail industry and/or large transportation company
