dsm-firmenich is organized across multiple business units (P&B, TTH, HNC), with SHE and Security competences centralized under Group Operational Excellence (GOE). The regional SHE & Security department supports all business functions in the region, ensuring that industrial hygiene and occupational health are integrated into the strategic and operational activities.

 

The role also includes responsibilities related to managing the risks associated with acquisitions and expansions. Due to the global footprint and complexity, this position demands urgency and rigor in identifying, mitigating, and managing industrial hygiene risks in new ventures. The Regional Industrial Hygienist will be instrumental in maintaining dsm-firmenich's competitive edge while safeguarding employee health and ensuring compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Standards Implementation: Lead the effective implementation of industrial hygiene and occupational health regulations and internal standards, ensuring compliance and health risk reduction.Performance Monitoring: Oversee industrial hygiene and occupational health performance, supporting achievement of targets and providing actionable insights.Expert Guidance: Provide leadership and expertise, influencing senior stakeholders by aligning industrial hygiene with strategic goals.Cultural Influence: Foster cross-regional collaboration, encouraging best practice sharing to achieve an incident-free environment.Competence Development: Identify gaps and lead training initiatives to strengthen regional health risk management capacity.Networking: Leads the regional Industrial Hygiene network and actively participates in the Tier I Industrial Hygiene network. Works to establish global standards, processes, and tools, bringing a regional perspective to global initiatives.Regulatory and External Engagement: Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance and benchmarking against peers for continuous improvement.Incident Management: Lead health incident investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.Local Management Systems: Guide facilities in establishing local industrial hygiene management systems, including change management and control effectiveness.Health Risk Assessments: Oversee health risk assessments, applying hierarchy of controls and offering support when local resources are limited.Occupational Health Programs: Coordinate medical surveillance, respiratory health programs, and hearing conservation initiatives to ensure compliance.Capital Projects: Contribute to and review SHE assessments for large capital projects, ensuring proper risk identification and mitigation.

 

 

You bring:

 

BSc/ MSc degree in industrial hygiene OR equivalent in a technical, engineering, OR SHE & Security field AND Certified Industrial Hygienist.5-10 years of relevant experience in industrial hygiene, preferably in chemical or pharmaceutical industriesStrong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities to implement and ensure compliance with standards.Excellent organizational and communication skills, including ability to adapt communication styles to varying site capabilities, driving effective engagement and improvement, influencing skills, problem-solving and strategic thinking mindsetAbility to foster regional and global collaboration, driving culture change, and embedding proactive risk management.Effective crisis management skills, leading during high-pressure situations and ensuring health impacts are managed effectively.Strong coaching and mentoring skills, empowering local teams through targeted training.Fluent in English (C1), French is an asset
