Manager Inpatient Nursing
Job Description

Job Summary

The Manager, Inpatient Nursing oversees the daily operations of the critical care department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care. This role provides leadership in patient safety, staff development, operational efficiency, and financial management while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. The Manager supports strategic goals, quality outcomes, and operational excellence within the critical care environment.

Essential Functions

Supervises, coordinates, and evaluates nursing care delivery on the unit to ensure compliance with established standards and policies. Implements evidence-based practices and performance improvement initiatives to guide clinical decision-making and enhance patient outcomes. Engages staff to identify risk mitigation and quality improvement opportunities, resulting in measurable safety and care advancements. Monitors and analyzes data to develop and implement ongoing improvements in patient satisfaction and operational performance. Develops and executes tactical action plans and individual performance goals that align with organizational objectives. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and other departments to address and resolve operational challenges and patient care issues. Oversees the department’s financial health by managing budgets, tracking expenditures, and implementing cost-saving measures without compromising care quality. Performs patient case reviews, addresses escalated concerns, and ensures timely resolution of patient care issues. Develops, implements, and updates policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards to maintain alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Associate Degree from an accredited nursing program, or completion of diploma nurse program required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in a critical care setting required 2-4 years of nursing management experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong clinical expertise in critical care nursing practices and standards. Effective leadership, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to analyze and utilize data for performance improvement and strategic decision-making. Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting and resource allocation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Licenses and Certifications

RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation issued by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required CCRN - Critical Care Registered Nurse (Adult, Neonatal, and Pediatric Acute) preferred
