Manager - International Transportation
Support Center - Irving

This position provides direction and communication relative to international transportation requirements for Seasonal imported merchandise. You will be responsible for tracking, expediting and on-time delivery of all Import and Domestic Seasonal, Ad, Endcap, POG and Special Event merchandise to DC’s and stores. Maintenance of the Seasonal event calendar and lead-time matrix also support the execution of the Seasonal programs.

This position drives continual improvement in event fill ratios, interfaces proactively with the merchandising group on requirements to avoid problems and delays in the Seasonal import process and manages the PO extension process. You will also provide support and problem solving to management team, relative to Seasonal delays and provide feedback to other Supply Chain teams when network performance issues are identified.

This position is responsible for managing all shipment exceptions for import shipments, both Seasonal and SBA merchandise. You will work with the order management partner at origin to identify options for the most cost-effective and timely movement of freight from origin to DC. You will partner with the merchant and sourcing teams to resolve exception situations and communicate the resolution to origin offices.

Major Activities
 

Transportation Mgmt.  

Aggressively monitor dynamically changing requirements of the Intl. transport process. Act as liaison between Michaels Stores Inc. and various Intl. logistics providers, notably Intl. carriers, freight forwarders, consolidators, buying agents and Michaels Domestic Transportation Team. Serve as point of contact for ALL Seasonal Flow, assuring that Michaels maintains the highest fill ratios and level of service for Intl. and Domestic Transportation.
 

Merchandise Expediting Process 

Initiate development and documentation of Tracking processes and procedures.  Implement and maintain a comprehensive tracking process for Seasonal and Special Event merchandise.  Tracking process will include all activities thru final receipt of merchandise in stores. Continue identification of process and procedure enhancements resulting in a significant improvement in the ‘on time’ receipt of seasonal and special event merchandise in both the DC’s and in the stores.
 

Tracking Status Reporting

Develop and publish tracking reports providing shipment status and exceptions to established calendar timelines.  Utilize reports to identify problem areas and expedite shipments when needed.Present program status updates in cross-functional stakeholder meetings with various levels of leadership. Answer questions and provide clarification as needed. 
 

Seasonal and Special Event Calendars          

Primary Mgmt member responsible for development of seasonal and special event timelines.  Coordinate with Merchandising, Logistics, Inventory Mgmt., and Store Operations in development of those timelines.In conjunction with DC & Inventory Mgmt, prepare and publish calendars detailing event deadlines for each step in the process. 
 

Leadership 

Build a diverse and high performing team through actively recruiting, hiring and training new team members.  Coach and provide feedback to grow talent.Conduct performance management including reviews, IDP conversations.Other duties as assigned
 

Minimum Education 

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum Type of experience the job requires    

4+ years industry experience required5+ years experience in analyst role working with Excel and AccessApplication of SC metrics Outstanding process management and ability to analyze complex data, identify issues, explain variances, and recommend solutions

Preferred Education    

Degree in Engineering, Logistics, or Finance 

Preferred Type of experience the job requires  

4+ years industry experience in Supply Chain, Finance or Retail Experience managing a team
