Under direction and with limited supervision and broad direction, this position performs administrative duties of management of departmental operations activities and supervision of departmental personnel, working in conjunction with the AVP, Medical Director of the Heart & Vascular Institute as well as the Medical Director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
The Manager of Invasive Cardiovascular Services supervises the activities and specialized functions relative to the Invasive Cardiovascular Service Line which may include the cardiac catheterization laboratory, Interventional Radiology Laboratory, Electrophysiology Laboratory, and the Cardiovascular Pre and Post Care holding rooms. This position provides leadership and directs functions of assigned patient care areas on a 24-hour basis and ensures effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures. The Manager collaborates with the AVP, medical directors, physicians and nursing leaders in the development or modification of procedures, policies and protocols using evidence based approach. The Manager is responsible and accountable for human resource issues, quality, and performance initiatives, operational efficiencies and financial performance of the departments overseen.
ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
Budget and financial:
Assist director and/or AVP with developing annual operational and capital budgets. Monitors budget variances monthly and provides timely explanation of variances.
Develops, implements and manages policies and a budget, ensuring cost control and expenses are in alignment with the budget.
Credentialing:
Ensures physicians are appropriately credentialed and privileged to perform specific procedures within the established scope and services.
Data Analysis:
Monitors key metrics such as complications, appropriate use criteria, exam and report turnaround times and other indicators of quality.
Tracks patient satisfaction and promotes a positive patient and family experience.
Assures the maintenance of appropriate databases and registries such as the ACC CathPCI NCDR registry, and LAAO Registry.
Uses data to track quality performance measures related to clinical outcomes for all cardiovascular related departments.
Assist AVP with maintenance of CVSL Balanced Scorecard.
Assist with the maintenance and accuracy of the Invasive Cardiology Information Systems.
Financial:
Tracks volumes, revenues, and expenses. Identify revenue enhancement opportunities and expense reduction opportunities.
Maintains the departmental chargemaster, ensures appropriate CPT/HCPS codes are utilized and updated appropriately.
Monitors changes in local and national coverage determinations and the that the physicians and staff are aware of these changes to remain in compliance.
Monitors productivity and variances and is proactive to obtain productivity and overtime goals.
Works in collaborative fashion with leaders and providers to achieve hospital length of stay goals for cardiovascular patients.
Human Resources and Management of People:
Makes decisions for direct reports and performs people management activities such as:
Performance evaluations in a timely manner
Disciplinary actions
Monitors time and attendance
Staffing plans, and schedules
Timecard management in UKG Pro (Kronos)
Interviews potential candidates and makes hiring decisions
Supervises direct reports and manages the performance of individuals through ongoing coaching, feedback, and development to motivate, engage and drive a high performing team.
Constructs Action Plans to increase staff engagement
Rounds on staff on a consistent basis
Operations:
Ensures the daily operations of each department, oversees the delegation of the scheduling of staff, appropriate staffing assignments, direction and supervision of the nursing and technical staff, and efficient patient flow is done by supervisors and charge nurses of all assigned cost centers.
Ensures procedures are prioritized to meet the changing need of the patients and the organization.
Quality:
Ensures the staff documents the appropriate procedure in the log books, including CMS requirement procedure log registry elements.
Works to achieve high levels of departmental performance on level with cardiovascular accreditation programs for services such as cardiac cath lab, interventional radiology lab and electrophysiology lab.
Utilizes appropriate tools to positively impact the reduction of complications and to provide a safe environment following ACHC standards.
Participates and assists the Quality team in a highly confidential and professional nature with CVQA Peer Review Process with facilitating film reviews, input on mattes of staffing and operations and means to assist all providers to achieve their highest performance.
Monitor report turn-around times.
Compliance:
Ensures staff and providers adhere to all areas of compliance pertaining to rules and regulations.
Ensures compliance and education to staff and physicians on local and national coverage determinations.
Monitors AUC for procedures and conducts special audits as assigned.
ALARA Standards:
Ensures the department follows ALARA standards in radiation safety, including monitoring dosimeter reports, annual lead apron checks, and staff attend annual radiation safety learning activities.
Ensures physicist examines equipment on an annual basis.
Participates in radiation safety meetings.
Safety:
Utilizes tools and checklists to promote safe environments.
Ensures equipment preventive maintenance is done annually or as recommended.
Ensures employees and physicians adhere to infection control guidelines and protocols.
Ensures safe practices when LASER sources are utilized.
Ensure the proper care and cleaning of rooms and equipment.
Ensures staff are compliant with infection control policies and protocols including hand hygiene, dress code compliance, appropriate utilization of PPE, and isolation protocols
Relationships:
Promotes positive physician communication and engagement, and is available to meet with physicians frequently and as needed.
Promotes and represents the organization in a positive and collaborative approach to other managers, directors and administrators.
Actively participates in hospital and system corporate committees.
Actively engaged with promoting health fairs and other marketing activities.
Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University. Other majors or courses of study will be considered as meeting these requirements, as long as they are closely related to the essential functions of the position.
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare is Required.
Master's Degree in Healthcare is Preferred.
A Bachelor’s Degree form an accredited college or university in healthcare, business administration, public health or a closely related field is required. A clinical degree and background as a registered nurse, radiological technologists, cardiovascular technologists, respiratory therapist, exercise physiologists, or other clinical background is highly desirable.
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare, business administration, public health or a closely related field is preferred.
Experience
Other type of work experience will be considered as meeting these experience requirements, as long as they are closely related to the essential functions of the position.
3 years of experience in Healthcare/Medical -Cardiac Services is Required.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience leading and managing an invasive cardiology program or operations, or closely related field.
Clinical background is preferred.
