Manager - MEP

Our growth offers an exciting opportunity for an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) Manager, responsible for the strategic development and leadership of the MEP group out of our Meriden office. This position requires a high focus on strategic, resource and workload planning and overseeing the successful delivery of MEP Projects.
The selected candidate will be a licensed Engineer (or able to receive within 1 year), having a minimum of 16 years’ total experience with demonstrated success in the management of multiple large complex projects. The candidate will also have experience with the direct management of employees, including Project Managers, and have demonstrated success in winning new business.

Responsibilities Include:
Oversee operations for MEP across all our locations including balancing workload, developing and ensuring revenue targets are met, determining staffing needs, recruiting and evaluating employees. Review and approve scope and fee proposals. Establish goals, objectives, and strategies for developing new business and preserving existing client relationships. Establish contacts with new prospects that result in contracts for new work for BL. Network and generate leads through involvement in professional organizations. Actively participate in the growth of the team for both resources and expanded services. Collaborate with the Executive Director and other senior leaders in the Architecture and Building Engineering Department, including Architecture and Structural engineering as well as other disciplines within BL as needed including Environmental, Energy, Land Development and Transportation. Drive team performance to produce quality deliverables that meet profitability goals and the client’s schedule. Work with team leads to provide opportunities for professional development, skill building and growth for all MEP members. Approve weekly time sheets, expenses and time off requests. Determine equipment and software needs for project production.
Required Experience:
PE License (or ability to obtain within 1 year) 16+ years' experience in MEP with 6+ in a supervisory role Understanding of contract documents including a knowledge of the liability and contractual issues in Owner/Designer and Owner/Contractor agreements. Financial understanding related to the operations associated with this position including but not limited to utilization and profitability. Management of client relationships including design and financial issues. Coordination and organization with staff and peers as well as good inter-personal and office communication skills.
