Manager Mining

Role Details:

Gold Fields Ghana seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual for the Manager – Mining position. Reporting to the Tarkwa Mine Manager, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for managing and coordinating all facets of the mining operations in a responsible manner to meet all safety, environment, production and cost targets whilst ensuring alignment to short-to-medium and long-term mine plans to ensure the sustainability of the operation taking full cognisance of relevant legislative, statutory requirements and the strategic goals and objectives of Gold Fields.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the mine's production and development activities, taking into consideration its daily and long-term requirements to achieve set targets and ensure its sustainability. Ensure that resources, systems, and processes are in place to achieve budgeted production performance through effective planning, managing, and monitoring of activities while ensuring statutory compliance. Drive operational and capital improvement projects to maximise efficiency whilst minimising operating costs. Manage and oversee the utilisation of assets to maximise return, including the application of new procedures, processes, regulations and technology where appropriate. Comply with all Tarkwa Occupational Health and Safety requirements, Contractors Health and Safety requirements, and those required under the Ministry of Mines. Management of the mining contract as per the terms of the contract Execution of the Mine Plan through management of Contractors as per contract and Scope of Works. Coordinate the activities of Contractors to ensure the efficiency and productivity of mining so as not to negatively affect processing operations. Provide advice on and preparation of supporting documentation, as well as technical oversight/inputs and advice for compliance-related items. Liaise with Tarkwa's technical and operation departments, prepare presentation materials, monitor compliance and reporting obligations, and prepare reports and correspondence. Participate in internal and external meetings and workshops. Prepare strategy and projections for medium and long-term plans and risk assessments. Prepare long-term development reports. Train, coach, and mentor subordinates to deliver superior performance to the business.

 

 

Key Requirements:

A Bachelor of Science degree in the Mining Engineering or its equivalence BSc A Mine Manager Certificate of Competency Minimum of Ten years’ appropriate managerial experience in Mining Must be knowledgeable in Ghanaian Mining laws and related requirements. Demonstrable experience with Mine Planning Applications (e.g., Datamine, Surpac, MineSight) Previous experience and/or training in Project Management including Contract Management Ability to work under pressure for long hours with a results-oriented attitude. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels. A valid and current light-duty vehicle license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle. Medical fitness for the job and environment Exceptional leadership capability and demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop others.
