**Job Description:**
BayRidge Hospital, a part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, provides substance abuse and mental health treatment, along with inpatient and outpatient services.
**This is a Department of Mental Health (DMH) licensed hospital with 62 adult psychiatric beds. Inpatient services are provided in a hospital setting and offer evaluation and treatment of acute mental health and/or substance use conditions. Care is provided in a 24-hour, secure and protected, treatment environment. The goal of inpatient services is stabilize people who display acute psychiatric conditions associated with either a sudden onset and a short, severe course, or a marked worsening of symptoms associated with a more persistent, recurring condition.**
The Admissions manager is responsible for ensuring that the behavioral health inpatient units are admitting to their unit specific capacity. They will assumes responsibility for the management of the department, provide appropriate clinical direction and support to the staff to ensure the delivery of clinically sound, cost-effective inpatient admissions. Collaborates with clinical staff and other managers to ensure that a safe and therapeutic environment is maintained for all patients. Participate in hospital committee meetings. Responsible overall for staffing within the set budgetary guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages admissions and monitors discharges for in-patient services.
2. Develops, implements, and maintains revenue-generating strategies related to admissions and patient capacity.
3. Determines and implements admissions best-practices, develops and revises admission and monitors discharge processes, and oversees admissions staff. 4.Records and reports data related to admissions, discharges, and admission inquiries to senior management.
5. Gathers information about patient satisfaction and complaints related to the admission, and participates in meetings related to patient satisfaction
6. Develops departmental goal
7. Helps to recruit, hire, and onboard staff.
8. Manages admissions staff.
9. Manages admissions inquiries.
10. Monitors admissions capacity and makes sure it is effectively communicated to clinicians and other personnel.
11. Delivers admissions targets and develops relationships within the community to drive admissions numbers.
12. Stays apprised of federal and state regulations governing capacity, billing, and reimbursement, including Medicaid and Medicare guidelines, as well as Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
They will assumes responsibility for the management of the department, provide appropriate clinical direction and support to the staff to ensure the delivery of clinically sound, cost-effective inpatient admissions. QUALIFICATIONS &
Requirements:
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EPIC)
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing coding
• Strategic planning and decision-making ability
• Leadership and mentoring skills
EDUCATION:
• Master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, social work, or related field.
• Independently Licensed preferred
• 2-3 years’ experience in healthcare at the managerial level preferred
• Prior experience in healthcare admissions preferred
