Summary:
The Manager of Development Communications supports the creation of development communications to boost awareness of Biomedical fundraising priorities and the cultivation and stewardship of major donors. This includes fundraising collateral and proposals as well as presentations, and solicitations. The role also writes and edits donor stewardship materials (impact reports and related media) and collaborates with Advancement Communications on various projects. The position requires a focus on additional content development, which includes producing donor-related/fundraising impact stories; newsletter, magazine, and website content. This role will also handle general copyediting requests as needed, including the materials related to the Medical Annual Fund.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience
+ Required: Bachelor’s degree.
+ Required: 5-7 years of experience in a related field such as professional writing experience, including experience in an academic setting
+ And/or equivalent combination of education and business experience.
Job Competencies
+ Demonstrated competencies in written communications, journalism, technical writing, proposal and/or grant writing is required.
+ Familiarity with the Google Suite and team collaboration and project management tools like Slack and ClickUp is required.
+ Familiarity with web content management is required.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and challenging/changing deadlines is required.
+ Experience in an advancement setting and with philanthropy and fundraising communication is highly valued.
+ Proficiency with basic image manipulation and graphic design experience with Adobe Photoshop is highly valued.
+ Knowledge of digital communications strategy and best practices is highly valued.
+ Familiarity with best practices in communications design, channels, and delivery is highly valued.
+ Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality; proven ability to apply good judgment and responsible decision-making.
+ Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
+ Demonstrated proficiency in developing content, messaging, and talking points that are persuasive and precise.
+ Proven ability to think creatively and independently.
+ Proven ability to structure complex documents.
+ Ability to work independently and proactively, yet function in a collaborative team environment.
+ Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
+ Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
