HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Directs the formulation and implementation of engineering strategies in order to achieve the short- and long-term profit and growth objectives of the business. Responsible for all aspects of the design and development of custom systems and standard component products, including management of the engineering groups, design, and documentation support. Responsible for all aspects of existing product support, utilizing the above resources. Maintains consistent interface with all operations, Sales and R&D. Reports to the Managing Director.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
+ Primary:
+ Provides daily supervision of engineering staff (Mechanical, Electrical & Software Engineers, Mechanical & Electrical Designers and Engineering Documentation Support) to maintain business objectives.
+ Supports the development and improvement of engineering policy, practices, and procedures with peer managers.
+ Supports company programs and initiatives.
+ Provides project schedules, resource loading, resource priorities, resource utilization reporting, resource planning and other reports as requested by the Managing Director.
+ Performs employee performance reviews, establishes employee goals, and monitors performance per company policies.
+ Maintains department organization, operational efficiency, and effectiveness.
+ Establishes training programs and training of employees as required to perform their engineering duties.
+ Represents and supports company policies and positions employees.
+ Manages staffing levels within budgets and maintains profitability of department within the objectives of the company.
+ Provides engineering technical support to other departments as required.
+ Provides reports, presentations, justifications, etc. as requested by the Managing Director.
+ Ensures all engineering practices and safety practices are complied with.
+ Works with other managers to develop, design, implement, and complete equipment and product designs.
+ Works with other managers to ensure uniformity and harmonization of engineering practices and procedures.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary to meet the needs of internal and external customers
+ Secondary:
+ Maintains technical competence with division’s equipment, products, and services.
+ Safety:
+ Thorough observation of work area(s) is alert to and avoids unsafe behaviors and conditions or other hazards. Reports any observed hazards to supervisor. Participates in corrective measures when appropriate or authorized. Maintains personal area in an orderly fashion, free of hazards.
+ Reports all injuries and/or near misses to supervisor immediately. Participates in and cooperates with accident investigations.
+ Fully participates in assigned training program. Attempts to perform only those tasks for which proper training has been received. Notifies supervisor if faced with a task, which is potentially hazardous to self or co-workers due to inadequate training or lack of appropriate PPE.
+ Becomes familiar with and practices all safety procedures. Seeks clarification or additional information when required. Strictly adheres to requirements for PPE and all safety rules.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
+ BS in Engineering or related discipline, together with first-hand experience in the management of a multi-disciplined engineering group, resulting from a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in at least two of the following: engineering management, project management, research and development and contracts management.
+ Human resource skills in motivation and team building in a multi-disciplined environment.
+ Proven ability to manage and control projects and monitor performance of same.
+ Ability to manage change in a complex, high-technology, multi-disciplined environment.
+ Able to communicate internally and externally as a technical authority in the field, supported by the engineering staff.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
+ Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
+ Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
+ Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
+ Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
+ Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
+ Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
+ Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
+ Occasional exposure to low and high temperatures.
+ Occasional sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
+ Occasional light to medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
+ Prolonged use of computer monitors.
+ Occasionally works around chemicals; Personal protective equipment is provided and required.
