Manager of Planning and Outage

About the role:

As a Manager of Maintenance Planning and Outage you will direct the personnel and functional organization that provides estimating, planning, resources, material coordinating, and outage execution in maintenance and project work. 

You will report to the Senior Technical Services Manager and be located at Ogden, UT. You will support this position 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct efforts to achieve world-class excellence regarding safe work practices and safety performance

Ensure compliance with Westinghouse Western Zirconium safety and environmental programs, policies, rules and regulations

Responsible for development of the maintenance and project planning processes and standards.  Ensure planning standards are used by Maintenance and Project Planning functions to achieve successful, cost-effective work task and project implementation

Coordinate planning efforts with multiple people/departments (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Integrated Scheduling, Contractor Oversight, Major Projects, Project Management) in a manner that supports delivery of efficient work execution

Directly manage the planning group staff

Manage the procedures implemented by the site’s CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)

Prepare reports on task planning status and planning department performance

Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve emergent ones. Analyze risks

Manage outage preparation (Planned/Emergent/Upgrade) from start to finish, including outage schedule development, craft labor/tooling/cost planning, pre/post outage meetings, mobilization planning, execution, and close out

Project manage onsite execution during assigned outages, ensuring safety and delivery goals are met

Help perform failure investigations and analyses, and analyze plant and equipment forced outage data to look for trends, and make recommendations to improve availability

Lead development of work management and outage scheduling to support efficient use of resources and to meet plant goals

Ensure clear handover between each activity or shutdown phase

Develop long-term outage plans, establish outage dates to minimize impact to plant operations

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field

Ten (10) years of related experience with five years in a supervisory or lead role.  Experience managing multiple projects/project managers

Knowledge of project planning and management systems, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Understanding of maintenance processes and planning required to support chemical and Zirconium manufacturing, and associated facilities equipment.

Analyze cost and scheduling information, provide forecasts and make recommendations,

Competent in conflict and crisis management skills
