Overview Manager, Radiology Services - 80 hours / 2 weeks - Monday to Friday Day Shift Hours with 24/7 accountability Join our compassionate Radiology team where you are more than an employee! This position will manage and oversee Radiology Services at the Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside campus, along with several outpatient centers and clinics through the greater Rockford area. The Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside campus is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, a Comprehensive Stroke center and is the Designated Level 3 Perinatal Center of the Northernwestern IL Region. The Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside campus opened in January 2019, has state of the art equipment and supports the Mercyhealth School of Radiologic Technology and the Mercyhealth School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The Manager will have the responsibility of managing all modalities within the Radiology department. This position has 24/7 accountability with some call expectation. The Manager must have exceptional organizational skill, and be skilled at mentoring and developing leaders. The Manager plans, organizes, and directs the practice for areas of responsibility and does this in accordance with the Health System's Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy. The Manager ensures the total patient experience is exceptional both in the Quality of Care and in the patient perception of services as defined and measured by system dashboard goals. Confers with medical staff and technologists concerning Radiology techniques and procedures. Oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment in all assigned Radiology modalities e.g. radiography, fluoroscopy, sonography, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, PET, mammography, bone densitometry, evaluates accuracy and quality of images, and provides technical assistance. Demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff. Evaluates training program for Radiology staff and conducts and arranges for training as appropriate. Designs and supervises training for radiologic technology students. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements. Coordinates purchase of supplies and equipment. Evaluates new Radiology equipment and recommends purchase of capital equipment. Prepares and administers budget for Radiology services. Plans, directs, and monitors quality assurance program to conform to federal, state, local, and hospital regulations and guidelines. Prepares or directs preparation of various qualitative and quantitative reports and records. Consults on work in progress and completed work to assure accuracy. Performs the duties of a staff technologist as appropriate to training, certification, licensure and competency. Reviews current literature and attends meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in field. Offers in-service education to other departments and medical staff in radiation safety and various radiologic and imaging procedures Skills and Abilities Three to five years of progressively more responsible work related experience necessary to gain comprehensive knowledge of Radiology policies and procedures, equipment use and regulations. Able to organize and direct activities of a large staff. Level of Supervision Provides direct and indirect supervision of Radiology employees. Supervises Manages radiology supervisors, coordinators and team leads who supervise employees in the Diagnostic Radiology Department in all modalities. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Also supervises staff level employees. Carries out leadership and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited Radiography Program Bachelor's degree required OR Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) AND 7 year's relevant experience Certification/Licensure ARRT Radiography certification required ARRT Advanced level certification preferred (e.g. CT, MRI, Mammography) CRA required at hire or promotion, or must be obtained within 2 years IEMA-DNS Radiography Accreditation required if working in Illinois WI-DSPS Radiology Licensure required if working in Wisconsin BLS certification required Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Equipment- moving (pushing and pulling) portable imaging equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
