Product Development:
Partner with the Industrial Design team to facilitate smooth transitions from design concept to sample development and commercialization.
Manage and lead the development process with the vendor base, ensuring products are developed according to specifications and timelines.
Collaborate with vendors to conduct product cost analysis and offer recommendations on product construction to align with financial targets.
Lead the material selection and development process to ensure top quality end products that stay within costing targets.
Ensure products meet industry regulatory standards through understanding and application of those standards as they are implemented and/or evolve.
Sourcing Execution:
Work closely with the Director of Sourcing to implement the global strategic sourcing plan and align tactical efforts with the long-term divisional strategy.
Collaborate with vendors to negotiate costs, terms, and sample delivery schedules while maintaining focus on achieving cost and margin targets.
Analyze supplier capabilities, capacities, and performance to make informed vendor placement decisions.
Drive the assessment of country and supplier risk factors and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
Vendor Relationship Management:
Foster strong relationships with vendors to enhance collaboration, quality, and delivery performance.
Address vendor-related challenges and escalate issues to the Director of Sourcing as needed.
Monitor vendor performance against predetermined KPIs and contribute to the annual vendor assessment process.
Collaborate with vendors to optimize processes and identify areas for continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Development, Industrial Design, Brand Design, and HKO, to ensure alignment and execution of product development and sourcing strategies.
Own communication with external partners in engineering, testing labs, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and confirm product performance standards.
Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to the Director of Sourcing and other relevant stakeholders.
Support the Director in providing necessary data and insights for strategic decision-making.
Coaching and Teammate Development:
Hires, Trains, and Develops teammates to build a strong bench.
Instructs teammates on the ins and outs of the position.
Delegates tasks for teammates to develop confidence and understanding.
Perform ad-hoc projects and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Merchandising
5-7 years of experience, including minimum 3 years merchandising experience in the related industry, with 1-2 years previous proven leadership and management experience.
