The Risk Management & Analysis (RMA) Department, part of MITRE’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Division, focuses on identifying and mitigating threats to the company’s critical resources. These threats, posed by foreign adversaries, malign actors, and other emerging conditions, can impact MITRE’s missions, relationships, contracts, and business pursuits within the U.S. government and global markets. The Manager of Strategic Program Protection (SP2) will lead the SP2 Group, a team of experienced specialists in program protection and threat management. This role involves collaborating with diverse stakeholders across the company to assess and mitigate threats to MITRE projects, staff, and information. As a key member of the RMA management team, the Manager will also serve as the principal coordinator of strategic program protection activities within MITRE’s ERM program. Roles & Responsibilities: + Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of program protection and threat management specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture that embraces operational excellence. Manage the performance and professional development of geographically dispersed staff. Ensure team alignment with MITRE’s strategic objectives and ERM initiatives. + Strategic Coordination: Serve as the principal coordinator for strategic program protection activities, integrating these efforts into MITRE’s broader ERM program and across RMA teams. Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders across the company to assess and mitigate threats to MITRE projects, staff, and information. + Program Development and Implementation: Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive counterintelligence (CI), operations security (OPSEC), program protection plans, and related risk management efforts, ensuring these plans are agile and responsive to both Sponsor and MITRE-funded programs and projects. + Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Lead efforts to analyze MITRE operations and programs for criticality, assess threats and vulnerabilities, and develop countermeasures to reduce risk at corporate, program, or project levels. + Communication and Awareness: Promote a culture of continuous and proactive threat detection and prevention by communicating risk concerns to senior leadership and project staff to influence positive CI, security, and risk management behaviors. + Technical Expertise and Innovation: Apply deep technical knowledge to design and deploy actionable and cost-effective risk mitigation solutions. Address complex and nuanced threats identified through CI analysis, risk assessments, and threat detection initiatives. Basic Qualifications: + Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. + Multidisciplinary background with deep technical knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas: intelligence analysis, counterintelligence, OPSEC, risk management, program protection planning, or industrial security. + Working knowledge of the NISPOM, including supporting disciplines, such as insider threat and industrial security. + Deep knowledge and demonstrated experience in risk management, including the assessment of risk and application of cost-effective countermeasures. + Ability to communicate complex issues clearly in a concise and organized manner both verbally and in writing. + Demonstrated experience leveraging technical tools and software platforms to optimize risk management activities. + Intellectually curious with excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to dissect issues quickly to characterize emerging concerns, especially in a cross-functional and matrixed environment. + Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance. + This position requires 50% on-site.
