Job Description – Manager

The Oliver Wyman Asia Pacific Actuarial Practice is seeking top talent for our Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan (Tokyo) offices.

The new Manager candidate will have the exciting opportunity of helping to grow the Asia Pacific Actuarial Practice from the ground-up and will report to the practice leader in Hong Kong. The Manager will be expected to contribute to a broad range of projects, including both Asia Pacific and US projects, and will play a key role in the sourcing and delivery of projects for Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, law firms, regulators, and private equity firms.

Thought leadership, including oversight and/or creation of intellectual capitalCreation and analysis of financial projectionsInsurance mergers & acquisitionsCapital markets transactions supportLife and annuity product development and financial reportingClient and industry presentations, surveys, case studiesWork in partnership with our management consulting and strategy practiceOperating with a high degree of personal responsibility and accountability for the maintenance of a portfolio of clientsPricing assumption and model methodology review, including benchmarking to applicable industry and peer experienceDevelopment and maintenance of intellectual capitalParticipate in client sales meetings

Skills and Attributes

Near-FSA/FIA/FIAJ to FSA/FIA/FIAJ or equivalent actuarial credentials with 6+ years of professional experienceTrack record of rapid learning, high performance, and professional growthKnowledgeable in Hong Kong insurance regulations, such as Hong Kong Risk Based Capital (RBC)Knowledgeable in local financial accounting such as IFRS-17Proficiency of financial modeling systems (Prophet or Moody’s Analytics AXISTM preferred)Strong written and oral communication skillsExcellent project management and time management skillsAbility to work independentlyUnderstanding of the value of collaboration, and the ability to work effectively in a team settingDeep critical-thinking skills and problem-solving abilityHighly motivated individual and willingness to work in a dynamic environmentStrong technical knowledge of MS Excel, MS Access or other database software, VBA or other programming languagesStrong skills with the Microsoft Office suite
