Manager-Quality and Risk - CR Performance Improvement & Accr
Summary Provides leadership and effective planning for hospital and medical staff quality improvement activities, and risk management program of the hospital. Coordinates JCAHO and State survey processes. Responsible for assuring assigned areas of responsibility contribute to overall organization's mission and goals. Under the direct supervision of Chief Nursing Officer. Position expected to comply with assigned schedule requirements which may include working additional hours on weekends and evenings as needed. Responsibilities + Plans and implements processes to meet JCAHO standards and other appropriate regulatory agency standards. + Provides input from the quality management perspective to the overall operation management of hospital's operations and interaction with staff and customers to enhance efficiency and quality of service. + Documents trends/practice patterns by providing data from quality monitoring activities and makes recommendations to ensure continuous quality of care. + Provides assistance to medical staff leadership regarding JCAHO and other regulatory standards and works with the medical staff leadership to remain in compliance with standards. + Provides education through information, literature, reading materials, to medical staff leadership, management, staff, students, and physicians to ensure safety, continuity of care and compliance with regulatory agencies. + Reviews unusual occurrence reports, investigates further if indicated, and recommends corrective action in consultation with Chief Nursing Officer (CNO); evaluates effectiveness of corrective action and recommends additional action if necessary. + Trends incidents, occurrences, claims and lawsuits within the facility; recommends corrective action in consultation with the CNO; evaluates effectiveness of corrective action and recommends additional action if necessary + Identifies existing risk exposures in the facility; recommends methods of controlling these in consultation with CNO; evaluates effectiveness of action and recommends additional action if necessary + Represents risk management and the concepts of patient safety on relevant committees of the organization and provides the necessary leadership, reports and/or guidance on management and operational issues. + Coordinates the response to discovery devices in lawsuits against the entity as indicated and/or requested. + Participates in professional activities, associations and certifications related to risk management and patient safety. + Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed. Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Preferred: RN BSN preferred. Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management preferred; Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management-CPHRM Minimum: Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts and techniques which are central to the risk management profession. Such proficiency is typically acquired through completion of an associate or diploma degree in a health-related field. Experience Preferred: Risk Management/Patient Safety experience preferred. Quality management experience desired. Minimum: Three (3) years of clinical and/or management experience Special Skills Minimum: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff, management and physicians. Knowledge of Performance Improvement Processes and associated Quality Improvement activities. Knowledge of licensure and accrediting requirements. Excellent organizational skills and problem solving abilities.
