Manager Regional Safety

The Regional Safety Manager works with minimal supervision and is frequently required to use professional skills, discretion and sensitivity while delivering various safety issues. This incumbent will be enthusiastic and work as a team member in determining plant needs and serve as a resource for to the Plant Safety Managers.  Oversee training and coaching to ensure employees are trained in safety protocols and proactively identifies safety issues for mitigation.  This individual is a leader who interfaces with various operations management personnel, including supervisory staff, General Managers, Regional VPs and Executive Team.

 He/she will oversee the OSHA records for each plant in designated region and coordinates with worker’s compensation team members. He/she retains complete accountability for overseeing safety practices and safety concerns. He/she will oversee safety process mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, risk identification, service level expectations.   Oversees the implementation and maintenance of environmental health and safety management systems including site emergency programs. Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and/or workshops Establishes and promotes a healthy and safe work environment, emphasizing accountability around safety policies and decisions. Aids in the development and implementation of a unified divisional and corporate safety strategy across multiple locations. Leads, supports and guides plant safety committees and conducts regular reviews with site leadership and prioritizes issues. Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws and regulations likely to affect the plant and interfaces with regulatory and public sector agencies as appropriate. Participates in industry and professional interest groups to stay current on best practices. Ensure and oversee all personnel are properly trained in both OSHA and Company required safety programs including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections, and citation follow-up. Conduct regular plant safety audits, document all deviations and follow-up to ensure all required corrective actions are completed in a timely manner Assist line management by spending appropriate time on production floor to observe workforce for safe behaviors and immediately correct any deficiencies Investigate all injuries in conjunction with line and staff personnel, identify root cause(s) to prevent recurrence, and notify plant management and corporate safety team of pertinent details Review plant accident statistics and make recommendations for performance improvement Establishes target areas and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives Ensures accurate and timely record keeping and document management. May be assigned other duties as required.

 

Requirements:

OSHA 10, OSHA 30 certifications required Thee (3) – Five (5) years practical experience in manufacturing safety protocols Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred. This can be a physically demanding job that can require the ability to lift 40+ pounds, to grip, work over head, pull at chest height, bend, stand, walk, kneel, crawl, push, pull, reach, climb and carry various materials and equipment. Demonstrated ability to work with external regulators and support multiple teams in order to consistently meet safety and production goals is required. Demonstrated ability to support and encourage staff, demonstrate empathy for others, to be trained, and take direction is required. The ability to deliver an excellent presentation and influence users to want to use the training tools Ability to function independently as well as part of a team Experience in developing a learning curriculum Travel 50% (every other week) Strategically project manage, organize and deliver safety training and programs as determined by the business Able to translate observations into concrete and actionable feedback to senior leaders
