Manager Registration

 

Position Summary

Manages the daily operations of the Registration department (inpatient, outpatient, emergency) and Information Desks.  Assist in scheduling, oversee training of new Registration Representatives, auditing staff work performance; auditing staff customer service skills; rotate to off-shifts to assure that staff is adequately trained and to provide for continuity of service; share off-shift call responsibility with the Registration Supervisors when needed.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and implement long and short term goals and policies related to Registration. Develop and implement procedures necessary to implement approved goals and policies. Responsible for daily operations of the department. Ensure staff obtains all data set requirements needed to properly identify the patient, create a billable account, obtain required signatures, perform upfront collections and maintain excellent customer service. Responsible for recruitment and retention of Registration personnel.  Assumes responsibility for corrective action when necessary.  Resolves associate concerns; communicates with supervisors and director. Maintains records related to work group performance, attendance, productivity, expenditures, etc. Recommends and implements solutions for operational problems.

 

Education/Experience

Minimum of high school diploma; College degree preferred. 5 years of patient registration experience required; hospital environment preferred. Previous supervisory experience required. Medical terminology required with health insurance knowledge including experience with medicare/medicaid and managed care requirements.  Working knowledge of the revenue cycle. Must demonstrate ability of problem solving and project management skills. Able to work independently on multiple projects with a variety of deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills required. Ability to learn and work with various computer software programs. EPIC experience is preferred. MS Office Proficient: Word, Excel
