Job Objective: 

The Safety Manager is a leading performer that will execute on organizational safety programs to prevent injuries and work-related health conditions and comply with applicable regulatory requirements. This role plays a key role in promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by collaborating with various departments to minimize workplace hazards and foster a culture of safety.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

· Analyze and classify risks and losses and measure financial impact upon the company.

· Design and direct programs to reduce accidents, occupational illness, and exposure to long term health hazards.

· Train employees and management in safety practices.

· Investigate accidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to determine causes and preventive measures.

· Review plans and specifications for construction or purchase of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.

· Conduct safety audits, record, and rate severity level, and assign responsibility for corrective actions.

· Coach site-specific leadership team on the expectations, tools, and implementation of the Safety Management System.

· Track and monitors SMS level specific KPI’s.

· Create and continually improve SMS specific training such as Supervisor Hazard identification/Mitigation, Supervisor Safety Communication Skills, Roles, and Responsibilities.

· Ensure the integrity of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.

· Performs other duties as needed.

 

Required Experience and Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field. preferred

· 6-8 years of job-related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Safety training and certificates preferred.

· Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.

 

Competencies:

· Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.

· Recognized cross-functionally as an expert within one or two subject matter areas.

· Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

· Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

· High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.

· Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.

· Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player and able to handle multiple projects at once.

· High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
