POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager Software Commissioning Engineer will plan, organize, and manage workload for the onsite testing team. The position requires the manager to support projects from original concept through final implementation and is responsible for coordinating with software project managers, QA team, controls, testing teams, and our clients. The manager will also help with execution of the projects and will require travel to customer sites.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Manage team of software commissioning engineersHelp with estimating new projectsResponsible for resource planning to support D&F, OptiSlot, and LPS projectsWorking with Software Project Management by participating in project planning activities throughout the lifetime of the projectAssisting Software Quality Assurance and Development teams with clarification of requirementsWorking closely with Software Quality Assurance and Development teams to ensure that proposed design solutions are aligned with current product and technical offerings or can by supported by Research & Development (R&D) roadmapMaintain advanced base test cases for FortnaWES solutionsProviding valuable input to R&D and WCS/WES roadmap initiatives identified from Client engagements and feedbackMaintaining high quality project and software design documentation and analysisEnsuring that any software systems being integrated meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specificationsRemaining abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standardsTravel to Clients’ sites or Fortna offices up to 50%Identify and implement process improvementsGuide and train software commissioning engineers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, or related fieldFive-plus years of combined experience in supply chain, distribution, warehouse management systems, and warehouse control systems technologies. AutoStore experience is highly desiredThree-plus years of experience managing resourcesProfessional experience in Material Handling Systems and/or Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)Knowledge of database design and file management techniquesKnowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft WindowsExcellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing skillsExcellent Client-facing skillsBusiness case development and modeling techniques and methodsSoftware Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experienceAdvanced project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.Team player who works well with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholdersStrong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skillsAbility to travel nationally and internationally in the range of 50% of the timeAbility to perform essential functions of the job has context menu
