The Speech-Language Pathology Manager for School Programs will organize and participate in intra- and interdisciplinary training and meetings, supervise speech-language pathologists, coordinate and integrate speech language services for the campus/program served, and administer and oversee department and program functions. The Speech-Language Pathology Manager will provide speech and language services on an as-needed basis, and will oversee coordination and training of documentation requirements across related services.  The Manager will work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Speech-Language Services to maintain consistency, communication, and compliance between all school Speech-Language programs.  The Manager will cover all responsibilities for the Director in the case of his/her absence.

Responsibilities Manage and oversee day-to-day departmental and program functions (e.g., continuing education, training, oversight of a speech language program setting) and coordinate and direct other staff participating in that activity.Act as liaison for speech language issues within the special education department (i.e., to Educational Directors, Director of Speech Language at the Kennedy Krieger School, Business Office), to staff in other clinical departments (i.e., Director, Asst. Director of Speech Language Department), as well as contacts outside of KKI.Oversee coordination and training of documentation requirements across related services.Assist the Director of Speech/Language Services in the school programs in recruiting and hiring staff that will provide speech language services in the special education department.Supervise graduate students, clinical fellows, and certified speech language pathologists.Organize and participate in intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary activities relative to student services (e.g., team meetings) and professional training (e.g., staff development activities).Provide functional communication assessments and develop and implement interventions focused on resolving an identified condition or diminishing its functional and/or educational impact.  Develop and deliver intervention services in settings and formats appropriate to the needs and placements (e.g., pull-out, classroom setting, co-teaching).Maintain documentation consistent with the Institute and Departmental expectations, as well as guidelines established by MSDE and ASHA.Develop, modify, and implement IEPs in cooperation with the ACT office and the LSS as prescribed in the Annual Team Meeting (ATM).Work with the curriculum/instruction/assessment staff and the school administration in the implementation of the state and district wide testing program.Cover responsibilities for the Director of Speech-Language Services for School Programs in the case of his/her absence. Qualifications *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI. *Clinical care focus is on the pediatric and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

EDUCATION:

Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology, with related clinical requirements is required.

EXPERIENCE:

At least 5 years in the field of Speech-Language Pathology is required.At least 3 years experience related to special education is required.Experience or additional course work in administration, supervision, or management preferred.

RELATED TRAINING:

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.Has, or is eligible for Maryland State Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.PCM training (or related training) will be provided by the department. Must achieve and maintain PCM certification at the “Practitioner” level (or higher) according to the timeline established within the departmental policy. Benefits
