Manager Sterile Processing

The Manager Sterile Processing oversees the daily operation of the department responsible for sterilizing medical equipment and instruments in order to comply with safety standards. This role organizes all services and personnel in the sterile processing department, including coordination of activities involved in the acquisition, decontamination, storage, assembly, cleaning, and sterilization of medical, surgical, and related supplies, materials, and equipment utilized in the care and treatment of patients.
Oversees that all sterilization processes and training of staff are in accordance with regulatory bodies in order to ensure safety standards are being met.
Ensures processes, inventory, equipment, training, and procedures are maintained to support instrumentation and sterilization needs in order to exceed service and quality expectations outlined by the customer and physicians.
Ensures utilization of instruments, equipment, and supplies is cost-effective by monitoring the condition of the instruments, ensuring repairs are made, and coordinates timely replacement, if needed.
Supervises sterilization staff relations including performance management, training, certification, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
Manages various sterilization personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and transfers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:Required: Associate's degree
EXPERIENCE:Required: 5 years of experience in sterile processing, operating rooms, or a similar setting; Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination and sterilization sciences, case cart systems, and medical/surgical supplies and equipment.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Current certification as a Sterile Processing Tech, Certified Surgical Tech, or Certified Nurse Operating Room
