Manager - Store Processes and Labor Standards

The Manager - Store Processes and Labor Standards is responsible for establishing new processes, captaining process improvement initiatives and ensuring that the Labor Standards supports the workload in all Michael's stores. This role leads the Store Simplification programs, identifying possible suggestions and solutions to further advance efficiencies. The Manager - Store Processes and Labor Standards will also manage a team that oversees the store supply ordering and fulfilment process. This role is designed to be able to focus on simplification and efficiency to better support the customer experience.

Major Activities

Lead projects to set up new businesses or processes in store.Collaborate with teams to identify issues and opportunities for process simplification and/or cost savings.  Conduct and maintain time studies to ensure accuracy of recorded tasks; as well as to document new or changed processes.  Accurately quantify changes and possible costs or savings.Maintain labor standards information within Standards Pro.  Identify key areas for changes that align with changes to store processes.  Lead store supply program in stores which includes but is not limited to the following:Collaborate with procurement to secure the best productLead a team to develop and maintain an efficient supply order management process across all storesDevelop and maintain a process to ensure stores are in stock on key supply programsProvide visibility to order requests and fulfilmentMeet or beat financial supply targetsLead Store Simplification program within Store Operations team.  Review submissions and possible suggestions to create efficiencies and cost savings.  Report progress to teams.Responsible for shopping cart program, conducting store surveys for cart needs, working with vendor to ensure adequate inventory can be met, and shopping cart compliance.Partner with teams developing store operating procedures.  Support field operations by helping to determine Standard Operating Procedure needs and requirements and how they will be applied at store level.Work closely with Store Operations finance team on changes to store processes to ensure store activities are accurately reflected in engineered labor standards, and assist with store planning files.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Proficient in measuring labor/employee productivityKnowledgeable with supply order management

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

5+ years’ professional experience plus 2 years retail operations experienceKnowledgeable on facets of retail store operations and procedures

Preferred Type of experience the job requires

4-year bachelor’s degree preferredEmphasis in Engineering, Retail, Business, or Operations degree preferredMichaels store experience preferred
