JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Business Services manages the Business Services Department for Baylor Center for Restorative Care (BCRC) by planning, organizing and directing personnel engaged in admitting and discharging patients; billing and collecting payment for services rendered; and data entry, reception and cashier duties. Maintains various logs used to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Develops departmental priorities, policies, procedures and budgets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Develops short and long-range departmental goals; establishes policies and procedures to attain goals.Interviews, hires, trains, counsels, evaluates and recommends termination of assigned team.Develops, secures approval of, and monitors annual operating budget; maintains expenditures within the approved budget.Develops, implements, and ensures compliance with policies designed to fulfill the obligations of BCRC in the third-party payor pre-admission certification process.Manages personnel engaged in admitting and discharge duties by ensuring patients are admitted and discharged by established policies; appropriate personal, financial and statistical information is obtained from patient or relative; and appropriate processing of discharge forms, collection of fees and/or deposits, and resolution of billing discrepancies.Manages billing and collecting patient accounts by (1) Ensuring charges are entered on a timely basis to patient accounts, (2) Reviewing patient account billings to ensure accurate and timely submission to insurance company and patient, (3) Ensuring requests for reimbursement are sent to insurance company or patient, (4) implementing collection procedures for delinquent accounts.Oversees the receipt and delivery of flowers and mail to the appropriate Nursing Unit or department.Interacts with Baylor Computer Services to update list of Charge Description Master codes as needed.Posts and reconciles admittance of patients to Medicare log. Provides information for Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) Financial Services to prepare monthly and year-end cost reports.Maintains log of invoices and check requests sent to BUMC Accounting Department. Maintains and balances petty cash fund.Maintains patient charity log and reconciles census with Medical Records Department monthly and at year-end.Prepares various reports as requested by Administrator, BSWH Financial Services and BUMC Accounting and Business Services Departments.KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
