Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Manager Unified Communications-Olympics is responsible for ensuring that engineering designs, plans, maintenance, and related activities for unified communication technologies contribute to a robust and reliable telecommunications operation. This includes managing central office telephone systems and equipment, overseeing telecommunication service providers, facilitating mobile phone provisioning and operations during the Olympic Games and other sporting events, and supporting the integration and unification of various communication platforms and systems.

Responsible for directing and coordinating the allocation and installation of both fixed and mobile telecommunication services and systemsAssist in the development of Requests for Proposals and planning for the telecommunications services required for NBC’s broadcast coverage of the Olympic eventProvide technical and operational direction to and direct supervision of telecommunications installers and techniciansMaintain the inventory of all distributed telecommunications equipment and ensure the recovery after the gamesProvide end-user training on mobile and telephone terminal devicesDevelop and maintain the Olympic directory database and the Contact Games-time corporate directoryResponsible for ensuring budgetary goals are met by careful inspection and reconciliation of invoicesInterface with the Operations and Production departments to ensure all their communication needs are being metInteract with telecommunication carriers to resolve issues, escalations, maintenance, and overall performanceLeading up to and during the Olympics, interact with the Olympic Organizing Committee, OBS and other professional organizations to ensure planning and circuit orders are executed to plan. This includes garnering a relationship with the organizations to ensure all needs are metManage the Design and Creation of standard operating procedures for all collaborative technologies and activities, which include: PBX, call manager, telepresence and immersive conferencing, chat, and other collaborative technologiesOpportunities to leverage your ability to design, document and manage new platforms and workflowsSkills in MS PowerPlatform (this is a huge plus to have!)Travel will be required, particularly in preparation for and during the years in which the Olympic games take place.  A rare opportunity to explore the world for the candidate who enjoys adventureAdditional duties as needed

Qualifications

Qualifications/ Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, completion of advanced technical IT training program, military or equivalent experience in lieu of bachelor's degree6+ years of knowledge and experience with:Avaya/Cisco IP telephony and strong knowledge of both on premise and central office telephone systems and equipmentPBX/Call ManagerSIP trunking solutionsGlobal Dial PlansAvaya/Cisco Voice GatewaysProtocols (G.711, G.729, SIP, H.323)Other Unified Communications solutions (Video conferencing, collaboration platforms)Fluent in English, in both verbal and written communicationMust be proficient with MS Office, Visio, LucidChart and/or AutoCADExcellent communication and negotiation skills within a matrix organizationAbility to prepare and deliver written and oral communications of complex mattersAbility to escalate critical communication problems quickly and efficiently in order to minimize disruptions and ability to work around failures to mitigate interruptions to the Live productions

Additional Requirements:

Must be willing to work a hybrid schedule based in Stamford, CT and Monroe, CT (Must be flexible between both locations and have reliable transportation)Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be able to travel to remote sporting events, production locations and 8-12 weeks of stay in the Olympic city each Olympic cycleMust be 18 years or olderMust be willing to work nights and weekends

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 3-4 days per week when not on a remote production event. 

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
