Manager Zero Harm Projects and Governance

Reporting to the General Manager Zero Harm this role is responsible for leading a small team of safety professionals to drive safety improvements across the Transport & Infrastructure (T&I) Business Unit. This role oversees key initiatives, including Group-required programs, training content, performance reporting, data analytics, and risk management. 

This role is instrumental in integrating Downer Zero Harm Standards and Processes within the T&I Business Unit, ensuring effective change management, training, coaching, and progress tracking. The role will establish governance frameworks, risk management protocols, and forward-thinking safety strategies that simplify operations while driving continuous improvement. 

What You’ll Bring

Advanced Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety. 10+ years’ experience in Health and Safety with exposure to high-risk environments, preferably the civil construction or infrastructure space. WHS Auditor qualifications or accreditations certificate and/or trained in ICAM investigation methodology highly advantageous. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to evaluate and implement Zero Harm policies and procedures and ensure compliance. Experience successfully influencing senior operational managers to ensure operational adherence to critical controls. High level of problem solving with the ability to deal with complex issues. Experience writing professional reports and presenting key findings to operational and senior leaders.  Experience in the development & completion of safety management system and/or environmental management system audit plans. Ability to think strategically, considering both corporate and local objectives/drivers.
