MD, Alternative Investments & Income Solutions


Reporting to the Managing Director, Investment Offers and Solutions, the candidate for the role of Managing Director, Alternative Investments & Income Solutions will be a part of the Schwab organization responsible for Schwab’s industry-leading investment product platforms. This role is responsible for leading Schwab's Alternative Investments, Structured Products, Insurance & Annuities offers across both our RIA and Retail client channels.

 

This MD will lead the teams responsible for delivering a world class product experience and competitive product offering to ensure Schwab is able to meet the wide-ranging investing needs of our clients.  With rapidly growing demand for these solutions and a newly launched Schwab Alternative Investments Select platform, this MD will have an opportunity to lead top priority initiatives for the firm and have an impact on an exciting part of the industry.  This leader will be accountable for setting the strategic direction and defining the future vision for these critical offers, as well as executing on strategic growth initiatives and managing day-to-day delivery of these platforms. They will also be responsible for relationship management with key third-party asset managers, ensuring strong partnerships while also advocating for Schwab and our clients with these partners and in the industry broadly.  

 

Key Outcomes:    

Lead the teams responsible for delivering world class investment product platforms for Schwab’s clients, across our Retail and RIA businesses. Set the strategic direction for these product offers, ensuring active evolution and growth to meet the needs of both our clients and our firm.  Develop and deliver complex platform enhancements such as improving enrollment processes, driving increased operational efficiency, navigating legal complexities, designing and implementing risk mitigation procedures, creating billing and pricing requirements, ensuring smooth tech integration, and improving fund onboarding capabilitiesLead project and execution work in a highly matrixed organization (in partnership with Operations, Digital, Technology, Legal, Third-Party Managers, etc.) to deliver against these objectives.Most immediately, lead the modernization of our rapidly growing Alternative Investments business in the RIA channel while also driving the continued build out of our newly launched Schwab Alternative Investments Select platform. What you have

Required Experience:

10+ years of experience as a leader within a broker dealer, financial services intermediary, and/or custodianDemonstrated experience in leading and managing complex projects inside of a large diversified financial services organization of similar scale and complexityStrong Alternatives Investments industry presence and relationshipsProven strategy capabilities, ideally through roles in management consulting or strategic functions within complex organizationsHigh level of comfort operating at varying levels of depth and expertise (i.e., ability to lead executive level decisioning while also engaging working team members on more technical / product specific matters)Deep knowledge of relevant investment vehicles, industry, and regulatory environmentAbility to cultivate a strong working relationship with diverse stakeholders such as Sales, Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal and ComplianceAbility to build strong relationships through collaboration across multiple levels of the organization, motivating colleagues to get things done effectively; is sought out for counsel and feedback and contributes to cross-functional teams and initiatives.Series 7 and 24 required or acquired within 6 months of hireBachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
