Practice Overview

Ankura’s Forensic Accounting and Insurance Claims Consulting (“FAICC”) practice focuses on assisting corporations in the quantification and presentation of first party insurance claims resulting from a loss reimbursable by an insurance policy.  Commonly, this entails the calculation of business interruption and extra expense losses.   The FAICC practice works with its clients to build financial models that quantify these insured losses, and then assists in the claim audit and settlement processes. The work can take place within the normal insurance claim process or within a litigation setting.

Role Overview

Ankura’s Forensic Accounting and Insurance Claims Consulting practice is seeking a Managing Director to develop business and lead first party claims and litigation engagements. As a Managing Director in Ankura’s FAICC group, you will be responsible for promoting the Ankura brand, generating leads, selling both FAICC projects as well as other Ankura service lines, and successfully manage client engagements.

Responsibilities:

Originate business and collaborate with other Managing Directors and Senior Managing Directors to sell and deliver engagements that generate USD$400k - $1.5M+ in consulting fees on an annual basis

Participate in business development initiatives that include targeting external clients, attending industry conferences, and speaking engagements

Oversee work across multiple engagements

Effectively work with client and engagement team to set expectations regarding timelines which satisfy client needs and are achievable with the resources available to the engagement team

Engage with key constituencies as part of report drafting to ensure approach is consistent with external expectations

Provide guidance to team(s) as to overall communication strategy and key messaging

Establish and maintain relationship with most senior client executives

Provide engagement leadership to Ankura team and Client

Adhere to corporate business engagement risk protocols and manage team to target budget utilization and bill rate targets

Manage team of early in career professionals including training and mentoring

Actively participate in performance management for self and direct reports including goal setting, calibration sessions, formal evaluations, and informal feedback

Be a thought leader in the industry evidenced by multiple speaking events and development of written thought leadership

Actively identify and recruit key talent into Ankura

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 15 – 20 years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or litigation/disputes work

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, finance, economics, or related discipline.  Master’s degree in business and/or CPA a plus.

The successful candidate must be a commercial leader able to drive revenue growth and capture market share

The candidate will possess a strong personal brand within FAICC field and deep market-making relationships across the relevant insurance brokers and law firms, etc. resulting in a robust flow of inbound calls and bookings

Expertise defining, influencing, and driving change at executive levels and across the broader community of stakeholders

Exceptional negotiation skills with complex/sophisticated situations involving executive and senior level stakeholders

High energy style, flexible and adaptive, with the ability to work well in a very fast paced environment

Ability to adapt to complex client environments and situations

Proven track record of effectively planning for and proactively mitigating risks on engagements

Expert written communication skills, self-directed with preparation of client ready document and presentation development

Articulate, persuasive, communicator who is adept at handling executive and difficult audiences well including ability to adapt style to audience
