Job Title: Managing Director, Renewable Energy Tax Credit

The Managing Director is responsible for leading the bank’s renewable energy tax credit syndication business with a focus on securing commitments from new investors to invest in renewable energy tax credit equity investments.  This role will both structure and syndicate renewable tax credits. This will primarily include wind, solar and storage projects.  This role requires extensive expertise in renewable energy, current tax regulations, project/partnership modeling, the different types of renewable energy projects, tax credit structuring/underwriting, the different types of RETC partnership structures and transferability.

Essential Responsibilities:
 

Responsible for sourcing investors/capital for RETC projects.Initiate contact with prospective investors, obtaining initial agreements to invest in specific projects.Responsible for analyzing and summarizing developer-produced renewable investment proposals and models.Partners with internal partners and external customers to gather information and assists in the initial underwriting of renewable energy tax equity opportunities.Performs initial tax equity modelling for the purpose of providing initial investment proposals.Leads the preparation of tax equity term sheets which detail, among other things, pricing proposals, structuring considerations, conditions to funding, and the allocation of transaction risks.Facilitates the transition of originated investments to other internal teams.Collects information and produces reporting related to various aspects of the renewable energy pipeline including deal prospects and credit delivery forecasting, fee estimates and expense tracking.Leads in the establishment of policies, procedures and training necessary for accomplishing the group's tasks.Works closely with the existing tax credit equity syndication team.Works closely with the renewable energy banking group.Works closely with tax, legal, and accounting.Works with internal partners in the selection and engagement of third-party professionals (attorneys, accountants, appraisers) in coordinating the drafting, collection, and review of documents and financial projections necessary to close investments.Works closely with asset management and fund management.Develops marketing materials and plans for investors to be used as a guide in marketing toward prospective clients.Present as a leader in the industry, including participating on panels, collaborating internally on marketing operations.In all actions, fostering a culture of enterprise-wide mindset; internally and with clientsDevelop and implement policies and procedures related to the origination and syndication of tax credit.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study preferred.

Experience

10+ years’ experience with renewables tax credit projects and investments5+ years prior experience sourcing renewables tax credit investor capital, demonstrated expertise in raising capital

Skills

Knowledge of current tax regulations, project/partnership modeling and appropriate legal documents to effect a sale or transferDetailed understanding of the financial structure of RETC transactions, tax credit regulations impacting financial structures, regulations and practices regarding the qualification and delivery of tax creditsAbility to articulate development and tax credit issues and provide solutions in structuring of tax credit transactionsExcellent relationship management and business development skills. Team player and adapts to change easilyProficient in negotiating transactions, building and managing strong client relationships and building consensus around proposals and recommendations, both internally and with clientsAbility to be creative and think beyond the obvious solutions for financial investment strategiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with third party professionalsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs and in particular Word, Excel and Teams

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary rate of $350,000 annually. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
