Managing Director – Corporate Risk Management, Data Platform Architecture

We are looking for an experienced systems architect for the role of Managing Director, Data Platform Architecture.  In this leadership role, you will lead the formation of a next-generation strategy for transforming the data platform architecture within the Corporate Risk Management (CRM) organization. Working closely with Schwab’s technology and business leaders within CRM, you will define, scope and innovate a data platform architecture to help transition key risk management functions spanning finance, financial crimes and compliance into a cloud computing environment.

 

Key Outcomes:

Lead and oversee development of a comprehensive data platform architecture capable of bringing key risk management processes into an in-house development and reducing reliance on vendor tools.Work with business leaders and Subject Matter Experts across finance, financial crimes and compliance areas to capture business requirements and develop a plan for a comprehensive next generation platform.Liaise with CRM’s AI/ML model development team to create an industry-leading cloud-based model development and deployment capability suitable for rapid deployment of mission-critical models into production.Create, manage and communicate project planning materials, including budgeting and metrics for an agile development process.Work with senior CRM leadership to align on development priorities, timelines and deliverables to ensure a successful transition to a next generation platform. What you have

Required experience: 

Graduate level degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with strong preference for graduate degree in finance or similar15 years of experience driving strategic architecture of data architecture and software developmentDeep familiarity with all aspects of Schwab’s key risk management processes, including financial risk, Fraud/AML/KYC, Compliance and metric productionExpert level software platform architect with strong understanding of key programming technologies such as .NET, Java, Python and R, as well as important data modeling environments such as Dataiku and Vertex.AI 

Preferred Experience: 

Demonstrated business acumenWork effectively with senior and executive leadership both within Corporate Risk Management and Schwab Technology Solutions (STS)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong people leadership and management skills.
