Bloomberg Media is looking for a managing editor to lead and expand our global lifestyle and culture coverage. The ideal candidate will be an experienced journalist and inspiring leader, with fluency across digital and print platforms; a deep understanding of Bloomberg’s audience; a passion for smart, surprising lifestyle and culture journalism; and a keen and wide-ranging editorial sensibility. 

The managing editor will lead a global team of editors and writers, oversee editorial strategy and operations for Pursuits across platforms, and collaborate with other teams to launch new features and products.


We’ll trust you to:


Lead the Pursuits team — hire, manage and coach writers, editors and guest critics, and create a collaborative, ambitious and inclusive team culture Set and reinforce high standards for the quality, distinctiveness and performance of Bloomberg’s global lifestyle and culture coverage (including travel, food, wellness, arts and entertainment)Collaborate with our Weekend team on idea-driven coverage and with our Explains team on service journalismWork closely with Businessweek editors and art directors to execute the Pursuits section of the magazine at an exceptional level of qualityAssign, edit and top-edit stories, including soliciting and shaping contributions from across the newsroomLaunch new editorial products in collaboration with colleagues across platforms, including audio, video and events


You’ll need to have:

10+ years of magazine/news experience, with a deep understanding of both digital and printA strong vision and sharp editorial eye, with fluency in and passion for a wide range of cultural and lifestyle topics and trendsFamiliarity with the interests and needs of global business readersA proven track record of collaboration with newsroom, media platform, product, and commercial teamsA strong understanding of audience analytics and the digital subscription ecosystemsExperience editing magazine featuresEntrepreneurialism, flexibility and creativityExcellent team management and communication skills

Salary Range = 180000 - 230000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
