 Part-Time Mandarin TeacherQualifications and competencies:  Part-time teachers teach general Mandarin and we look for dynamism and flexibility when recruiting staff Mandarin Teaching qualification as their minimum qualification, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent The person has not been convicted of any offence under the PE Act within a period of 5 years preceding the deployment Previous experience in teaching large groups and different types of Mandarin (e.g. Business Mandarin, Mandarin for Specific Purposes) Excellent written and verbal communication skills that can be applied across cultures Flexibility, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, combined with flair and creativity to get the job doneRight to work in Singapore

Responsibilities:

To teach all levels and course types as directed by the DOS To plan all classes sufficiently and to mark students’ work To plan and deliver special interest (SPIN) courses as directed by the DOS To plan and deliver lectures on a rota basis (approximately once every 3 months) To choose appropriate supplementary material and topics for your classes. These must demonstrate sensitivity to the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic student population in EF schools. To help and advice colleagues, and share supplementary materials and ideas for classes To attend and contribute to weekly teacher meetings and quarterly all school general staff meetings, which may take place after school hours To hold regular tutorials with students To input grades and attendance for students in EF Teacher’s App on a biweekly basis To contribute to the development and maintenance of the school’s academic resources To write student reports when required. To administer regular tests to the class when necessary and to mark them and return all documents to DOS To be jointly responsible for the tidiness of the communal areas and specifically the staff room To maintain necessary paperwork as directed by the school administration and carry out administrative duties accordingly To report any student who is absent from class for 2 consecutive days to the Academic Department in accordance with EF policy To attend internal and external CPD and training sessions whenever possible to ensure a continuing development and improvement of all teaching staff and the services EF offers
