Manual Machinist
**Job Title: Manual Machinist** **Job Description** As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual machines, including lathes and mills. You will read and interpret blueprints, process and/or work instructions, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, machining methods, and sequences required. Daily cleanup of the work area is also expected. **Responsibilities** + Set up and operate manual machines (lathes, mills). + Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, sketches, and technical data. + Select, load, test, and modify programs; make necessary adjustments to machine feed, speed, and axis points. + Set up equipment, install tools and fixtures, make machine control settings, and run jobs. + Monitor machine operations, check parts throughout the run, and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate dimensions and quality standards. + Respond to alarms, retrace programs to locate problems, and make necessary corrections. + Use precision measuring instruments and equipment to attain accurate dimensions and maintain tolerances. + Maintain working knowledge of most machine shop equipment and machine shop math. + Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting unsafe activities to management or Human Resources. + Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals, contribute to building a positive team spirit, and communicate effectively with subordinates and management. + Maintain the highest level of honesty and integrity. + Be willing to work extended hours during peak seasons (Spring/Fall), which may include both day and night shifts. **Essential Skills** + 3+ years of machining experience. + 3+ years in a job shop environment. + Experience with manual lathe, mills, and bridgeport machines. + Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical data. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with custom, one-off jobs. + Familiarity with machine shop math. + Knowledge of safety policies and practices. **Why Work Here?** This is a long-term opportunity with growth potential. The team-oriented environment requires collaboration on custom projects. During peak seasons (fall and spring), hours are 6 AM to 6 PM or 6 PM to 6 AM. Regular hours are 7 AM to 3 PM and 3 PM to 11 PM during summer and winter. Weekend nights are Friday to Sunday, 7 PM to 7 AM. The dress code includes work boots, jeans, a polo, and eye protection. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Augusta, Georgia. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
