The first shift Manual Machinist II is responsible for performing senior level, complex manual machining on aerospace parts .
This position is part of the Pall Aerospace Machine Shop and will be located onsite in New Port Richey, FL. The work schedule is Monday thru Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and overtime is routine. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status, or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon Pall obtaining the necessary employment visa and export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the applicable U.S. government agency.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Work with complex castings and forgings as well as machine parts from bar stock. Deburr parts during machining operations. Read and understand all types of drawings required to machine parts such as castings, forgings, and detailed engineering sketches. Selects proper holding devices, chucks, collets, faceplates, vices, sine plates, etc. Builds tools and fixtures. Indicate machine axis, fixtures, tooling, and components as required to meet given tolerances.
+ Set-up and operate manual lathes and mills. Work to close tolerances and inspect all work with various types of inspection equipment (hand gauges, micrometers, calipers, height gauge, functional gauges, optical comparator aka shadow graph) to ensure acceptable quality and productivity. Indicate machine axis, fixtures, tooling, and components as required to meet given tolerances.
+ Troubleshoot and diagnose machine process issues. Works with Engineers to develop processes and build prototypes. Train co-workers. Complete all necessary paperwork as required including scorecards, hazard recognitions, routers and data.
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ High School diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED) and six (6) years of experience working on manual machining equipment.
+ Good working knowledge of shop math. Experience reading complex machine drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Possesses functional knowledge of general dimensioning and tolerancing. Understand, follow and effectively communicate verbal and written instructions. FAA certification may be required.
+ Work overtime as required.
Physical/Environment Requirements:
+ Frequent lifting up to 35 pounds. Lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. Lifting frequency: Daily. Required to stand for long time periods (for a minimum of 8 hours or more). Frequently twist and bend.
+ Pass visual acuity exam.
+ Work with solvents, oils, and other chemicals.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Aerospace manual machining.
