Steampunk is seeking a Manual Test Engineer who will provide testing and QA expertise in mission critical work across our client base.

 

Responsibilities will include testing and verification of code, reporting and recording defects, coordination with architects, functional analysts, and developers on testing and testing results, documenting test scripts, participating in design reviews, user acceptance testing, and deployment activities. This individual will also work in an Agile environment and participate in scrum ceremonies and product planning activities. 

Contributions

As a Manual Test Engineer, you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice delivering quality assurance services to support application, cloud and data systems development. Responsibilities include: 

Experience with various types of testing, including the following:Data validation testing Functional testing Usability testing Accessibility (508) testing User Acceptance Testing (UAT)Develop and maintain project testing infrastructure.Write detailed test scripts, test reports, and analyses for the product. Participate in the end-to-end software development lifecycle. Attention to detail, ability to follow test plans and scripts, and good time management.Meet with product design team and development team to determine testing parameters.Write test plans, create test cases, test procedures, bug reports, and final QA reports for product. Troubleshoot errors and streamline test procedures. Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.Work with software developers to ensure that the application follows established processes and works as intended. Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendation. Work with teams to support continuous improvement to testing processes.Present regular status updates and provide cross training to other test team members.

 

Qualifications

Required: 

Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience 5+ years of work experience 3 years of proven experience as a manual tester3 years of application testing experience in an Agile environmentExperience with bug-tracking systems such as JIRAExperience writing test scripts and test reports

 Preferred: 

Certifications: CAST (Certified Associate in Software Testing) International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
