Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future. **The Opportunity** A position is available within our Machining Facility Leadership team at the Peterborough Engine facility, for a Manufacturing and Quality manager to develop and enhance our machining capabilities, processes and equipment. Reporting directly into the Machining Facility Manager, this is an excellent opportunity to join a highly flexible, motivated, skilled and enthusiastic team. As the Manufacturing and Quality Manager, your key focus is to drive continuous process and quality improvement through the day to day accountability for your assigned value stream processes. As an integral part of the Machining Facility leadership team, you will lead up to 8-15 management and salaried, hourly and agency personnel who have full technical responsibility across the Machining value streams; roles include Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Process technician and engineers. The successful candidate will utilise experience and knowledge gained through exposure to a range of functions and activities within a Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering. They will be a dedicated, self-motivated leader who will work in a highly responsive production environment. Assuming responsibility for the development and engagement of a diverse team that will drive process enhancement and continuous improvement within a Machining area. This role represents an exciting step forward for individuals wishing to further develop their leadership skills and career within Manufacturing and Quality Engineering. **What You Will Do:** + Providing support and guidance through the analysis and diagnosis of facility manufacturing and quality issues. Provide thoughtful approach to solutions, modifying existing approaches or developing new solutions, for both existing and new product lines. + Lead cross functional teams to ensure all customer needs are met daily, both current product & NPI + Establish and monitoring of general policies and guidelines for projects under your control, ensuring specific + management goals are met, and desired results are achieved. + Impact key quality goals including Continuous Improvement, Delivery Timeliness, Equipment Accuracy, Operational Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Capability, Part Quality, ISO and Class A Certification, embedding CPS. + Lead CAD team to provide graphic job instructions; machine shop programs; facility layout and area allocations, and related regulatory compliance. Ensuring optimum use of equipment and space in support of changing production requirements. + Manage new product programs including coordination of product design, component processing, customer support, scheduling and financial issues to assure meeting customer expectations while meeting functional and cost targets. + Leading team and drive accountability of adherence/development to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics and affirmative action. + Provision of training, development and motivation for a staff capable of completing objectives and implementing cost reduction projects ensuring concurrent product and process design and meeting requirements of the manufacturing/ assembly process. + Develop and execute annual Business / Cost Centre Plans, responsible for expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures + Accountable for specific goals on safety, employee engagement, product quality, manufacturing velocity, operational efficiency and cost management + Manage production resources to meet on-time deliverables, ensuring effective direction and supervision of all operational activities in an assigned area, maximizing overall equipment efficiency and utilisation of all resources + Be an advocate of improvement dialogues (PID’s) with Section Managers, Team Leads and Team Members + Develop an effective network (internal & external to Operations) to ensure a thorough understanding of business objectives and customer requirements **Skills You Have:** **Degree Requirement** Degree or equivalent experience desired Skills will have been learned either in an Operations function and / or in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality or Maintenance disciplines Demonstrated ability to coach, develop and inspire **Lean Manufacturing:** Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes. Level Basic Understanding: **Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Level Working Knowledge: **Quality Management:** Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. Level Extensive Experience: **Collaborating:** Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. **Influencing:** Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. **Top Candidates may demonstrate some of the following skills:** + Educated to degree level in an Engineering or Business Management related discipline or equivalent tenure experience within a manufacturing / operations environment + Supervisory/leadership experience – demonstrating the ability to lead, motivate and inspire. + Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of component manufacturing processes **Additional Info** + This role currently operates a hybrid working model; to allow for 2 remote working days per working week - this is subject to change at the discretion of the company. **What You Will Get** We look forward to welcoming the successful candidate to our dynamic, diverse and friendly team.
