The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
The purpose of this position is:
Manufacturing Associate III’s are responsible for learning and executing production processes to manufacture small parts. These will be parts of all complexities, and you will be expected to use a variety of tools and equipment including tweezers, microscopes, and hand presses. This position applies to Associates that have demonstrated proficiency in all assembly processes or to Associates with special training such as Laser Machinists and entry-level leads, or to Associates who have experience in at least 3 Plating processes.
This position includes significant duties such as:
Work in a team environment to optimize output of quality product. Assist others as necessary and promote safety awareness Must be able to read and follow routers, work instructions, and drawings Perform assembly operations for all complexities of precision products using a microscope and various small bench top tools and equipment May include becoming proficient in multiple production processes such as assembly, solder, heat treat, inspection/DMR, laser machining, deburr or lapping May include experience and demonstrated proficiency leading work teams by providing work assignments, training, reporting, troubleshooting, team communications, and leadership Must be able to read and understand blueprints, part identification, and record data in accordance with router, work instructions, and drawing instructions Perform inspection to identify good product from bad product and take appropriate corrective actions Level III Associates are expected to know performance metrics and work toward targeted objectives Associates should proactively report any part, process, or equipment issues as soon as they become aware The above description covers the most significant duties performed but does not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned
Working Conditions:
Working at a table with small parts, tools, and a microscope for the duration of the shift
Education/Experience:
High School or General Education Diploma Over 1 year of experience with microscopic precision part assembly is required for the Manufacturing Associate III position

The range for this position is $24.00 hourly rate - $28.50 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
