**THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES**
We partner closely with operational teams to provide strategic financial insights, support data-driven decision-making, and ensure the financial health and sustainability of the New River Valley Plant.
Our team supports a world-class manufacturing facility that produces and paints cabs, fairings, and accessories for Volvo VN Series highway tractors and Volvo VHD trucks. With over 500,000 trucks assembled since its inception, the plant is a leader in manufacturing excellence
This position will be based in Dublin, VA, and report directly to the Director Business Control, Volvo Trucks, NA.
**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**
The mission of a **Manufacturing Business Controller** (MBC) is to ensure financial processes and operations are aligned with company profitability goals and global manufacturing strategies. The MBC will deliver accurate, timely, and actionable financial data to guide decision-making and secure long-term business success.
As an **MBC** , you will work closely with Business Control teams, management, and operational colleagues to provide financial insights, conduct performance analysis, and foster continuous financial improvement.
In addition, you will act as a trusted partner to manufacturing teams, leveraging your expertise to optimize cost control and ensure compliance with internal financial policies.
The **MBC** is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and improving manufacturing financial metrics while driving strategic initiatives and maintaining financial integrity.
**Key areas of responsibility include:**
+ Proficient in data analysis.
+ Providing critical financial analysis and reporting for truck manufacturing costs, including forecasting and variance analysis.
+ Acting as a business partner to guide teams on performance, cost deployment, and continuous financial improvement initiatives.
+ Managing and analyzing key manufacturing cost systems, such as SAP, and generating insights to improve cost efficiency.
+ Conducting monthly closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
+ Delivering clear, actionable reports to management to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
+ Ensuring compliance with Volvo Financial Procedures, internal controls, and audit requirements.
+ Driving collaboration across functions to enhance financial processes and achieve profitability targets.
**EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE**
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent experience required
+ 3-5 years’ experience in data/financial analysis, cost accounting
+ Exposure in a manufacturing environment may be an advantage
**KEY COMPETENCIES**
+ Analytical Expertise – This is non-negotiable for a financial role in manufacturing. Candidates must know their ability to analyze data is a priority.
+ System Proficiency – Skilled in SAP Financial System.
+ Technical Tools – Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools. Familiarity with Power Bi and Power Automate is an advantage
+ Accuracy – Demonstrated ability to deliver precise and reliable financial data and reports.
+ Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities to build effective working relationships across teams.
+ Understanding of production flow and cost drivers a plus
