Dow has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Cost Accountant Specialist for the Polyethylene business at the Bahia Blanca plant (Argentina).
About you and this role - What you would do in this role
In this position, you will oversee and manage overall cost analysis and internal control related to two Polyethylene value centers at the Bahia Blanca plant: Gas Phase and Slurry.
Responsibilities:
Record, monitor, report, and communicate business cost performances, ensuring activity is accurate, complete, and compliant with accounting standards.
Responsible for month-end closing activities, including production processes, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Responsible for product costing of materials, reviewing for variances, and correcting/communicating to business/plant management.
Perform product inventory reviews and fixed asset reviews.
Support internal and external audits.
Provide financial analysis to business management teams as needed for project studies, options analysis, and productivity/benchmarking measurements, and establish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with other sub-processes and functions.
Support the monthly estimate process.
Interact with many functions such as Business Finance, Plant Engineers and Production Leaders, Supply Chain Managers, and Technology Center.
Be an active member of VCT meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, business, engineering, or related areas with a focus on controlling, finance, accounting, or a similar discipline.
Accounting knowledge is preferred.
Advanced level of Spanish and English.
Strong software/system skills: SAP and DSR.
Knowledge of Dow accounting policies, business rules and USGAAP
Reporting - ability to summarize data from an evaluation into meaningful information to be used by internal clients.
Business Acumen and Strategic Thinking - ability to understand the business strategy and markets in which the business operates, understand the most critical and relevant issues, and readily recognize or suggest viable alternatives.
