This position is for a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will work at the OEM Aero/Industrial nozzle manufacturing facility in West Des Moines, IA. In this position you will work as a Manufacturing Engineer applying engineering principles in a manufacturing, assembly, and test environment.  If selected, you will become familiar with Collins Aerospace products, manufacturing objectives and state of the art manufacturing techniques. This role is onsite, located at the West Des Moines, Iowa site.

What You Will Do:

You will be responsible for establishing & maintaining efficient sequence of operations & workflow & establish methods for best utilization of production facilities and personnel. You will be responsible for documenting with standard work, routings and bill of materials the process that you define.  This will be done in support of new product development, product design changes, cost saving initiatives and quality improvements.You will be responsible for tool, fixture, gauge and process development using Solidworks 3D modeling.   Documenting with drawings and facilitate procurement of tools, fixtures and gauges.You will evaluate discrepant materials to determine disposition based off customer & technical requirements in the most cost effective manner while still maintain product safety and integrity.Your primary internal customer will be the shop floor where you will be expected to solve manufacturing technical problems.You will be needed for customer engineering, customer quality and supplier technical support as needed.

What You Will Learn:

In this roll you will experience and learn a wide variety of processing including, welding (TIG, Laser and Resistance), vacuum and induction brazing, heat treat, assembly, calibration, EDM, 3D printing, machining and grinding.You will learn to be part of a cross functional team to meet quality and production goals.You will learn technical requirement of Collins Engine Nozzles gas turbine engine nozzles and spraybars.You will learn to work with a wide range of customer base including GE, Pratt and Whitney, Rolls Royce, Honeywell and US military to name a few.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Good mechanical and technical aptitude willing to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Ability to use a variety of software including 3-D CAD software, MS office applications.  MS Project and SAP a plus.Exposure to APQP & PPAP (AS9145/AS13100).

The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
