As a Manufacturing Engineer, you serve as a critical bridge between design and production, applying your deep understanding of product development, configuration management, and for high-quality outcomes. You play a key role in shaping the manufacturability of both new and existing products by collaborating closely with design engineers and leveraging Windchill as the PLM system to manage CAD data, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Primary Responsibilities.
Lead the migration of legacy engineering data—including CAD models, drawings, and associated metadata—from previous PLM systems into Windchill, ensuring data integrity, proper classification, and alignment with current configuration management practices.Utilize Windchill PLM system to manage Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM), create and maintain Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), and ensure configuration control of design and production data.Act as a key liaison between design engineering and manufacturing, ensuring product designs are optimized for manufacturability, quality, and cost from concept through production.Lead the interpretation and review of complex engineering drawings and specifications, providing design feedback to support functional performance and manufacturing readiness within an ISO 9001 environment.Collaborate with cross-functional teams during design reviews and prototyping phases to identify and resolve manufacturability issues early in the development process.Initiate and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) within Windchill, ensuring accurate part revision control and seamless design transitions across lifecycle stages.Coordinate with Engineering and the Material Review Board (MRB) to evaluate nonconformances and implement corrective design changes where needed.Provide final manufacturing approval of engineering drawings, ensuring alignment with production capabilities and assembly flow.Assist in training and mentoring engineering and manufacturing personnel in the effective use of Windchill for PLM functions including document control, BOM management, and part lifecycle tracking.Basic Qualifications.
Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial/Systems, or Aerospace Engineering and 2 – 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.Knowledge, training, and experience for most of the primary responsibilities definedA passion for lean enterpriseA background in traditional manufacturing process tools including Costpoint or other ERP applications and Windchill PLM applicationProficient using Microsoft Vizio and Power PointMust have excellent written communication and visual presentation skills, and the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to technical problemsAbility to work productively and cooperatively within a concurrent engineering environmentBackground in ISO 9001 StandardPreferred Qualifications.
